Re: Hyundai Fluidic Verna VTVT SX (O) 2 Years and 30,000 Kms

HI All.. I own a Verna SX VTVT almost 1year old. Along with the arrival of summers the car is giving a very pathetic fuel economy which is not more than 7 or 8 sometimes. Point to consider is my fuel filling station remains same most of the time.
What average does all you get in VTVT SX ? And please help in getting it upright to the standards.

Regards

Hey guys, Yesterday my car jumped into large pothole on Nagpur highway and both driver side tyres were punctured. Very horrible situation. Puncture repair shop was Kms away from spot. So drived the car with flat tyres upto repair shop. That made one tyre unrepairable and two tyres have sidewalls air bulges. Now thinking of upgrading the new tyres. Need help in choosing right tyres

Fuel efficiency depends on the driving style and traffic conditions. If you face both these issues, then FE is justified I guess.
I have a heavy foot but road and traffic conditions are decent between my home and my office. I got around 12+ kmpl during the last few weeks. Thats a 2kmpl drop from what I used to get during February. If I push the rpm higher than 3k, the FE will drop to less than 12kmpl, though it takes me around 40-50km of extremely careful driving to get it back to 12 again.

I have heard of this type of situation before, where the tyres give out when they take a hard hit and the sidewall bulges. Bridgestone B250 tires have a terrible quality. Average dry/wet grip, lots of noise and low comfort. They are giving Bridgestone and Hyundai a bad name.
Why did you have to drive on flat tires ? I thought all verna variants had tubeless tires.
Anything else you take will be better than this. I might suggest Yokohama, hankook, michelin, pirelli, goodyear, etc. Better yet, wait for direct feedback from people who have upgraded. Look around the forum for threads on Verna tyres upgrades.

Hi.. Thanks for the inputs. Just to add, the driving style of mine is very orthodox, I always make it a point to not drive above the 3k rpm mark and even the gear shifting is quite smooth.
One drawback here in Delhi is the TRAFIC, that's the worst one.
Will it be useful to go to the service centre ?

Aside "allhyundaicars" : I guess you are from Delhi, do you know any service centre which have the Sxo Crome gear knob for vtvt sx?

@ myth - i agree with you about the traffic and how the car is driven. I normally shift around 2100 rpm and my car hardly goes in 4th gear because of the traffic.

@ varun - i'll give a call to my regular service center and will confirm it from them. And no it will be useless to go to service center just for the mileage issue. What do you get in winters ?

Usually I get around 12-14kmpl in winters. But at present it's giving around 6 to 8kmpl. Which at the very lowest side.

In 30 months worst mileage was 7.5 kmpl. Is your car idle a lot? In every tankful my car is idle for atleast 90 minutes. I too get the same in winters.

Hi there
if your car is giving 10 kmpl in delhi traffic than it is absolutely fine, below that is an issue to look into, kindly follow the following steps:

1.) Get your car serviced
2.) Clean or replace the Air Filter,
3.) Check coolant and other consumables items of car
4.) Clean all the AC filters, inside and outside radiator grills
5.) Try to fill from different fuel pump or may be brand like from HPCL to IOCL or BPCL
6.) Check cold tyre air pressure and bring it to 32 psi

After doing all this than on a sunday fine morning take it for a milage run test, like fill the fuel upto its brim and take the car for ride of around 50-60 kms on clean road like Gurgaon or Yamuna expressway. After the run fill the tank from the same pump and dispensing unit upto the brim and check the milage.
Also check it with MID.

Chrome Gear Knob: At the time of purchasing the car I demanded the same thing from my dealer i.e. Himgiri Gurgoan and they obliged it by changing it with Chrome one. Its a very easy job done in 15 minutes. Go to Himgiri or any other service centre and ask them for the part and get the person to change it and pay to him the labour amount.

The part cost was around 1400 - 1600 INR and labour would be around rs 100.

Thanks for such a briefing. Some of the points mentioned by you are already being taken care off. Such as Car service, air filter change, fresh coolant etc. But one thing which strikes me is to try and fill tyres with N2 and even i would be changing the filling station as well.

Chrome Gear Knob : I have tried in Hans Hyundai Moti Nagar, they actually arranged a gear knob for me but were unable to replace it with the existing one. Now will go to to the Himgiri for the knob.

Aside Allhyundaicar : yes there is an idol time for the engine, must be around 80 to 90 mints per tankful.

If you will not find it in delhi than do let me know I will arrange a meeting with Hyundai Gurgaon at Hero Honda Chowk service centre. They have the part and know how to install the chrome one.
Just give mileage run a try tomorrow on empty roads.

Yeah sure will let you know in case the Gear knob is not available in Delhi. Thanks alot for the good gesture.
Couple of times, when the road is clear I have tested the average and it comes out to be normal around 12 to 14KMPl. The worrisome factor is when I usually go out to Office, the traffic is heavy and While returning the traffic is again heavy but almost like a hell. Point to note is the distance between my home and the office is just around 8 kms.

I enquired about tyres available of size 205/55 R16. Just came around Hankook tyre of rating 94 W having extra load capacity. It is available at Rs.8400. But don't know much about the brand and its quality. The dealer highly recommended it as VFM. Guys any suggestion on it

Looking for hyundai verna sxo petrol. Is it a good choice or go for honda city. Is cvt engines better than vvt?

How is diesel better than petrol considering my monthly run of 1500 km.

Kindly help in arriving at wise decision.
