Re: Hyundai Fluidic Verna VTVT SX (O) 2 Years and 30,000 Kms

Diesel Owners please help
Off late I have been noticing oil in my air filter upon inspection my self the intake tube has lot of oil in it.
Is this common in diesel cars ??
Also the gear refuse to slot in at times when the car is stand still and I will have to pump the clutch 2 or 3 times to make it smooth
Don't know what's happening
Vishak, I am also facing this issues on the clutch since few days now. Earlier I had not faced this. This issue particularly happens on 1st,2nd & rev gears.
One things I have noticed is that when the vehicle is started in the morning there are no issues, but by evening after this heavy traffic conditions this problem is prominent. Looks like the master cylinder is playing games again [frustration]. Master cylinder was changed once in warranty.

On oil on air filter I have not noticed may be will check today and let you know if its seen. I have K&N filter which is already oil based so need to differentiate filter oil and smoked oil. :)

Guys I saw Philips Extreme Vision headlamps 90/100W priced at Rs.370/- per lamp, and relay extension from Philips to handle 90/100W priced at Rs.900/-. What you think? Is it a good buy?
Hi Sumzupdis, I would not suggest higher wattage bulbs as it start to emit more heat(bad for internal reflectors) and glare(bad for on coming traffic). I do agree that stock bulbs are of no use. Recently after doing a bit of search and talking to guys internal to Philips and Osram found that they have launched high bright bulbs at the same rating 60/55W. In Philips its called X-treame vision +100%(Rs.550/bulb) and Osram its Night breaker Unlimited +110%. Osram model is going to be launched next month in India, but Philips is very much available. On hearing this I got hold of Philips and found the light output to be rally amazing.

Earlier on stock bulb the headlight leveler would have been at 5 for visibility but with this x-treme vision with the leveler at 3 is more than sufficient. This bulb is a direct fit no cut-outs required. Will be trying Osram once its launched.

Will recommend this.

My Clutch was not touched till date but mast cylinder was changed before ODO reached 2k :), have not heard about this issue with any VTVT variant [confused]. Will do going to SE this weekend lets see what he has to say. Now the biggest problem is its not so easily repeatable. When the vehicle is with them there will not be any issue[frustration]. Will try my luck will update you once done.

Nick, your review is like the ultimate guide for the Fluidic Verna. A friend of mine got inspired after your reviews and bought a brand new Fluidic Verna 1.6 CRDi in the color that Vishak has. any pointers you can provide?

Re: Hyundai Fluidic Verna VTVT SX (O) 2 Years and 30,000 Kms

One vital question:
In my previous car Maruti 800 and many other those I drove, after a long run or so when the engine get hotter or after a certain heat range if you stop the engine the engine cooling fan keeps running to cool down the engine and after sometime the fan automatically turned off. Probably when the engine heat reduced. In that case I need to turn the key on.

But in Verna does the same thing happens? After a long run or after a certain engine heat limit does the fan keep running to reduce the engine heat? And do I need to keep the key on after shutting down the engine?

Today after a run around 20km when bring it to home the fan didn’t start, I kept the key on for few minutes but nothing happened. I didn’t noticed the same thing earlier when I did 60 km drive and back to home. Please suggest. Thanks.

Another issue:

Like we know in manual gears it has a gear change draw line for the gear leaver like 1st to 2nd pull down back in a straight line, 2nd to 3rd up the leaver to neutral then move it to slight right and then up. But In premium cars those I drove, there have something like gear recognize feature may be with RPM status. Like when 2nd to 3rd you just need to push the leaver up and it will go to 3rd gear (not moving sideways at neutral position). Same when rpm down and when you require to gear down from 3rd to 2nd you just need to pull down the leaver and it goes to 2nd (not moving sideways at neutral position). I hope this make sense.

But in Verna this only work when gear up, not when gear down. Many time my car goes to 4th gear from 3rd when I tried to shift down to 2nd gear. Any expert please advice is there any better way to shifting gears. Thanks

I don't understand. How will the stick shift operate automatically? There is slight push required from us to change the gears...isn't it? I don't think the stick shift recognized the RPM levels and the gears moves automatically to the desired level.

No I didn’t mean the leaver move by itself. I mean when in 2nd gear and need to put in 3rd it just require a straight push and the gear goes to 3rd. From 2nd to 3rd the gear shifting line isn’t in straight line (like 1 to 2), its straight to neutral and then right and then up straight line. But still when gear up by a straight line push it goes to 3rd (this is what I mean by automatic or it recognize or something like that). But when downward that doesn’t happen. I mean to say that.

Ok got ur point. In the gear positioning when the lever is in neutral it is in middle of 3rd and 4th gear, you can call this position as default lever position. 1, 2 and rev falls left to this default position and 5 and 6 to right, where as 3 and 4 are in the same line of default position up and down respectively .. so when u shift frm 2nd to 3rd lever moves in this manner 2 to N to 3. Since the gear shift is so smooth this 3 stage movement feels like a single line push. This behaviour will b noticed only when you go 2 to 3 and 5 to 4.. Reverse wll nt work ... Its just the alignment of the gear slot positions ..

If u ask me i love this transition as it gives a super smooth gear shift when ur adraline is pumping[:)] ..
Hope u understood

Guys, though currently I am an Ecosports owner, I used to own a Hyundai i20 petrol prior to this and in 3 years I had to replace the clutch twice [frustration]. Since I had few contacts in Hyundai, I managed to get it done under warranty, else they would charge you for this.

The Clutch judder problem is a typical Hyundai issue. For the first replacement the clutch pressure plate & clutch plate was replaced but issue croped again. The problem is with master and slave cylinder too. If you are doing the replacement, my suggestion is to replace it in combo. When I did the same second time the clucthed did not showed any problem till I sold it.

I am not aware of such kind of thing. I have never marked the same where fan keeps running after switching the ignition off on my Verna. Not even on my Swift VXi or brother's i10. Is there something like that? [surprise]

I am thinking why would it be even necessary? When you switch of the engine, anyway it will cool down gradually.
