Accessory Update: Rubber pads for the cubby holes

I had bought these for the ecosport and was impressed with it. Can now easily throw away those keys and coins without having to hear the rattles.

16 pieces in total and two pads dont fit properly (one is small while the other is big - Maybe this is for the ix25 and not for the Indian model). Also, have two extra pads for the bottle holders.

Cost - 500 or 550/- (almost took 2 months to deliver so forgot the price I paid)

A bit too small

See the extreme right. You can see it glow a bit. Yes, these are the "glow in the dark" pads

I got these from aliexpress. Do check the site but should be hard to get for Amaze and the car is not an international model. I too bought for the ix25.

Naveen.. Hyundai should hire you as the official photographer for Creta. What amazing pictures man. Anyone who sees the pictures you have taken, will fall in love with the car. If Hyundai uses your pictures, Creta will be the hottest selling car. Congrats man great review and excellent pictures.

Puncture Update:

Got a puncture yesterday or should I say a small sidewall tear. Was navigating through some 'not so bad' ghat section. Some rock might be the culprit.

The reason why I am updating this is to take caution of the tools. The jack seems to be of some ordinary quality. The black paint start to chip every time I rotated it and was very difficult to use it. Also the 17" wheels adds to the pain of lifting the jack to it's limits and the shape of it at the maximum limit really gave me scare. I wish and want to invest in an hydraulic jack but storing it in the boot is one thing that's keeping me away from it.

Cost of patching the tyre - 700/-

It was a small tear and the mechanic said it's safe to use. I wanted to keep it as a spare but he advised me to use it and wear it off as keeping it unused maybe weaken the patch.

Also the Bridgestone Dueller H/P Sport is a pretty new tyre in India and hard to find it, atleast here in Cochin (the size that comes with the SX(O)).

Congrats for your new ride Naveen. Creta looks Great in White and a good purchase indeed. Your Ecosport vs Creta comparison really helps me alot as even I'm looking Creta or the Ecosport as my next ride. Anyways wishing you loads of happiness and memories in your new ride.

Congratulations Naveen, I am not late (already wished you for creta in your eco thread).
One thing is for sure, Your review made me buy the ecosport, and you are already tempting me to upgrade, but I guess Its to early. Anyways, just to give me a feel good factor (Eco's my first self financed car (I am 26) and I have put a lot in it) can you please point out something in which Ecosport is better then Creta ?? So that I get a good night sleep. :P

Can 3 people seat comfortably(with regard only to space, neglecting the center arm rest) in back seat ?
It isnt all that bad. As mentioned, my rear seats are not used 99.9% of the time but occasionally, we do go for official meetings and 3 adults in the back is pretty fine. There were 4 adults yesterday and yes, that was a tight fit. But 3 adults should be fine (not as comfortable as duster)

Congratulations Naveen, I am not late (already wished you for creta in your eco thread).

Thanks Bharat. There are couple of points in favor of ecosport. I have mentioned all in detail in the first page. Some points would be:

1) AC
2) NVH
3) Steering

Read my initial post and you should have a decent sleep. [:)]

Rummaging through the site for user experiences on Creta, SCross, Terrano and ES to equip myself with enough data to help with sound decision-making by the husband :) He's been driving a Scorpio SLX for 9 years and knows that it's time to move to a new vehicle. We've enjoyed the Scorpio experience but want to move away from brand Mahindra. Would prefer the SUV kind of experience hence these 4 models for now. Pajeros and more such cost too much. Plus it's just the 2 of us on outstation and in-city drives. My main concern is Hyundai's service in Gurgaon. Scorpio gave us much grief on that count. Also, my hope is to move to a petrol vehicle--cleaner fuel and hopefully lesser air pollutants...

I've skimmed through the review but will read it with more care. Even though 3 months is early, just want to check on the mileage you're getting. Any other tips would help further :)

Two years ago, I'd bought a Brio mostly based on reviews on AI so vehicle research has again brought me here.

thanks in advance for any advice you can offer.

DIY - Rear Parcel tray padding

There was this sound coming from the rear and I had checked the boot lock (as suggested by many), rear seat lock and seat belts etc but wasnt able to find the culprit. Then while driving on a bumpy section of road, I saw the rear parcel tray jumping around (a small jump is enough for the sound). I checked the base of the tray and found no damping except for a small piece. I wanted to use a felt lining but that wasnt thick enough. The best option here would be a mouse pad (similar to the ones I used to cover the cubby holes in the ecosport) but didnt have one. Then came across this velvet type lace lying around in the house so decided to use them. Although not an OE finish, but it does a good job. Stuck the lace using double side tape and now it's perfect. Although the tray jumps around, it's silent now.

OE padding provided on the tray. It's useless

Lace stuck using double side tape. Not a perfect finish but I was looking for practicality rather than looks. I will need to use the mouse pad later on.

Odo reading - 4278 kms. I will have more pictures and updates next week.

I get around 12-13 in the city (B2B traffic and all along the metro construction zone) and around 16-17 on the highway. When compared to my previous car (ecosport), it's a joy to drive. Ample power, comfortable on broken roads (duster will beat creta here). I basically wanted something a bit better than ecosport and this is the one. If you need a proper suv, I think you should look at xuv 500. But creta is a perfect car for both city and highway. Moreover, 99.9% of the time rear seats are not used. Have to check on the service but heard it's a bit expensive. But have three free services so it's tension free till then [:D]

Thanks for these inputs. We've now done TDs of ES and Creta and liked Creta more for obvious reasons. My disappointment was over the low height of the passenger seat in Creta--I felt I was on the ground much like my Brio's passenger seat occupants tell me :) Husband found it zippy and nice enough though. My request to Orion's sales exec for a TD was handled with such an air of casual disregard that I emailed a complaint to Orion. After that 2 sales execs landed up even on a Sunday with a box of sweets in tow. Of course, we didn't accept the sweets but I can see that dealing with Orion will be as bad as our interactions with Sterling for Scorpio.. Cochin probably has better service standards than Gurgaon.
Still have to check out S-Cross, Duster and Terrano to take a final decision. In any case, Creta has a waiting of 3 months so we've plenty of time for TDs :)
Thanks.

Thanks.
My SA was the same guy who handled my ecosport purchase. So everything went well for me. Yes, the car is zippy and will manage to zip through traffic with ease.

As for Scross, duster and terrano, these are different when compared to creta. S cross - little more features, good high speed handling, amazing torque (1.6L). Duster/Terrano- Comfortable ride, bigger vehicle. So you have a lot to compare. But personally, I felt Creta much better than these as it fits my requirements. TD all these and take your call. Let me know if you need any help.

300 km drive - Highway and Ghat Section

DSC_0037.jpg

Back from a 300 kms round trip through all roads imaginable - Clogged city roads, 2 lane highway, 4 lane highway, a steep and bumpy ghat section and a pretty good off road track paved with rocks. Loved the way it drove in all roads.

Pros
1) Amazing power. Overtakes were effortless.
2) I was able to take the ghat section in 2nd and 3rd gears. Absolutely no need to down shift.
3) Even though this is not a 4wd, it did take the rocky section pretty well. Was able to crawl through without having to fiddle with the clutch.
4) The passengers said the entire drive was comfortable.

Cons
1) Wish steering weighed a bit more. Ford steering was perfect.
2) Well, this is entirely limited to my car. Wind noise due to the bike carrier. Get's bad during triple digit speeds.

Overall the entire drive was too good and am waiting for the next destination in December.

Odo - 4620 kms.

Next update will be in couple in weeks when it's time for alignment and balancing.

Some more pictures.
