Friends! Finally taking delivery of my Jazz Select UT on 23rd March this Friday after a long wait of 6 months. Paying 12K extra since price has increased but no much regrets. I had booked my Jazz on 17th September'11.

Bloodrush,
Welcome to the Jazz club! Now your'e gonna have a smile on your face whenever you drive. Especially if you like redlining the engine. The response from 4000rpm to 6000rpm is magnetic & the car will literally beg you to push the accelerator further down south!!! You will actually feel your 'blood rush'![:)]

Cheers

Nope. Please dont try to rev the motor to redline until the engine is set. So, act like a sedate driver for the first 2/3 months.

Akhil, Do advanced engines like the ivtec require a sedate running to 'set' it as you say? Even though the SA had told me not to cross 100 till 1st service(which is 1month)...

Re: New Honda Jazz 2011 Launched at Killer Price

hi
It's debatable. Some says it is still required but most of the modern engines not requires a run in period as they are built for high tolerances.Better to stick with what manual says. Most modern car engines are broken in at the factory, before assembly stage itself(Automobile engineer's can comment on it). But what i think is better to increase the rev, linearly over a period of time, instead of continuously keeping it below a certain rpm. The idea to keep engine revs low for an extended break-in period comes from the days when bearing and crankshaft manufacturing tolerances were far less rigorous and lubricating oil wasn’t nearly as good. While modern engines are assembled to much the same design clearances, the tolerances are much tighter, meaning the variability is smaller, greatly reducing the possibility of a tight spot.
For few 1000 kms avoid constant speeds and throttle but better not to red line the engine.(Disclaimer : Personal opinion and what i learned from sources. Please rely on what the manual says. Ask the the car's engineers about it. Usually run -in periods are manufacture specific. For the punto 1.4, the manual is silent about any run in periods, but still i didn't redline the engine )

Heard that there has been a increase of 10-15K across variants. Whats your dealer saying? The problem with my dealer is, he is not getting any X's.
