The right side rear view mirror had fallen off all of a sudden while driving from the mirror assembly today from my 2014 Amaze SMT(electronically adjustable mirror). Did this happen to anyone of you? Did not feel good being this a Honda. Will I have to get the whole piece replaced or can the mirror alone be fitted new. Any idea on the cost for it?
What actually fell?? Whole ORVM assembly or mirror with black plate? The latter is available separately.

I also quite didn't get what really did fall off[confused]

If the whole mirror unit is being fallen off, then it is not supposed to happen without any impact on it.
The rear cover on the mirror can be seperately bought if that's the one which has fallen off.
If it's the mirror, you can easily get a mirror alone as spare [:)]

New Shoes for My Ride

I finally decided to give up my 52000 Kms relationship with the stock tires and switch to new one. After going through the forum, discussion with friends and some tire dealers, I finally made the choice. Michelin XM2 185/65 R14

In the first 500 m of my drive after the tire change I noticed the difference. It’s a new car altogether… Super silent, super comfortable, amazing handling and efficient braking…

To top it all, I had always had concerns with the stiffness in ride and the ‘Thud- thud’ sound when it went over potholes, it all disappeared with the new tires.

Upsizing:
As I wrote earlier, My main concern was stiff ride of the amaze. So I desperately wanted to upsize the tire mainly in means of Sidewall height. 185/65 worked for me.. it gave me an increase in sidewall and the ground clearance and the increase in circumference was well within 3%(2.2% to be exact). I doubt that it might affect the mileage of the car a bit but I have to drive on a highway to know that.
Great. Do post some pictures of the new tire[:D]

Hi Punar,

I too had updated to Michelin XM2 185/65 R14 some 6 months back, have driven for over 7000 kms. now. Here are my thoughts,

1) Reduction in tire noise compared to stock ones (Good year 175/60 R14)
2) Better grip - gave me the confidence to pass thru. sharp corners at good speeds (which i never had with stock tires)
3) Marginal increase in ground clearance (this helps, trust me)
4) Although the mileage wasn't increased amidst the claims from Michelin for XM2 series but neither did it drop much. For my driving style it had dropped by just 0.5-1 KM.

Overall the tires are excellent

Happy driving!!
- Vicky!

Great, book your part and keep an eye on your oil level[:)]

Do update us with the part arrival and prior change !!
Hi Vichu -
At last got my Vacuum Pump's O-Ring (which was causing the engine oil leak ) replaced a couple of days back. To my surprise it was just a tiny piece of ring that was causing the trouble, it took a complete day to fix this.

Part # 36301RZ0G01
Cost - Rs. 728
Labor - Rs. 1150

Attaching the picture of the replaced part.
I hope the engine oil leak stops!!

Unfortunately my battery levels were down and wasn't charging [frustration] Service adviser suggested me to replace the battery too. I'm not sure if I was cheated here because I never had trouble with the battery in the past.

It has been exactly 3 years since I purchased my Amaze, I do have an extended warranty for my vehicle (4 yrs.) But looks like batteries are not covered in that, by default all OEM batteries comes with only 12-24 months warranty it seems. Clueless on what is covered and what is not in warranty? [confused]
I contacted the manufacturer (SF SONIC - 55B24L(S)-MF) and they too had provided the same info.

With no option left I had to change the battery. I went for Amaron - Hi Life Pro

How long does car batteries last on an average? I've driven around 45,000 kms. and my vehicle is 35 months old

All OEM battery comes with 1 year warranty only (Even if the same model is available in market with even more warranty period). Amaron is good choice.

Life of battery is pure luck and also the maintenance and load and how SVC screw up. I have seen OEM lasting upto 9 years and my worst being exactly the next week after the warranty period. Most of our battery lasted 3-4 years. VW battery used to conk off under 2 years, we shifted to Amaron. Most of our cars and bikes run on Amaron [evil]

Hey Vishnu how do you do man, i have changed my 2 Disks and brake pads for Amaze Diesel (Oct 2013 model) today after 33K. while braking the break pedal jumps mildly and vehicle does not halt smoothly. Went to ASS and they said it was a much much better mileage for the brake pads as an average brake pad lasts for 20k and at a max 25k only but mine is 33k.
You have done pretty good mileage how long yours last ? is 33k brake pads and Disks change is must ? or still can last some more km

Hey Ramesh , I'm good. Thank You[:)]

I've changed 2 set of brake pads till 64K kms. I've never changed the rotors. I don't think the rotors should be changed atleast till 80K kms. I know it depends on many factors even though changing rotors at 33k felt premature right ?

first of all your thread is very nice and understandable also very helpful for beginners appreciate and request to continue

ya right. i have the replacement part so i thought to inspect it and went to trusted workshop. Mechanic checked the Rotor he was surprised, said this will last sure for 1 L Kms no need to change. Also saw the Pads and that too can last for another 10K aproxima. Then we decided to remove the new ones both pads and disks. Slightly Skimmed the old rotors with emery paper then placed both old rotors and pads in. Now i do not feel pedal jumping back. however have to test for some more days while in traffic as well in freeway.

when was the first pad change and when was the second one.

How much is the brake pad ? .

For me they charged 4150 including labour/tax.

SET.PAD FR (1no) = 2390
DISK.FR BRAKE (2 nos) = 1407
Labour =345
