Re: High Security Vehicle Registration Plates (IND)

HSRP has been now implemented for new cars in Delhi. Existing car owners can replace their plates from June 15 onwards at specified transport offices among which a couple of them are now functioning at Burari and Mall Road. Here's a quick explanation of how these plates are installed. Read More Details Here.

Step 1: A blank Aluminum plate produced at company's Himachal factory is sent to Delhi with pre-pasted hologram and India Logo

Step 2: The number plate is put through engrossing machine which engraves the vehicle's registration number

Step 3: The registration numbers of the plate are pressed with a light black colour film that makes the registration bold and readable

Dont think this will prevent car theft in any way, there is no diff visually between these ones & the one we get everywhere else, even my car has those holograms since like 4 years, really dont see what this fuss is about. I have seen a members car from kerela but it did not have that ind hologram,i think it is tai member "point_city96" car.

Prads,
our beat's number plate as we call is a "duplicate" or say "replicate" of the IND number plate that is on our swift which have that ashoka chakra hologram.
When this news was announced I was so happy simply because I can get rid of this duplicate IND number plate. The number plate on the beat was not kept on my interest. The number plate on the beat have silver sticker in place of the hologram.

I think only the RTO approved HSRP number plates is legal and one sold by some vendors which have hologram is illegal.
The RTO approved ones have more information carrying on them.
I''ll try to share the public notification published by the Kerala government.

Varun & other Bangalore TAI friends, please do not worry about it. It will take atleast a year for them to start implementing it. Because the moment you guys start worrying I too start doing the same :please: My bumper is fit very loosely with most of the mounting points cut!

Once the new plates are fixed and if I have to replace the bumper, then is it possible. Or should I go to RTO? I hope they dont turn into Service Advisors[lol]

also i am seeing some with European union replica(here in Bangalore) that looks really bad cos the fonts dont look European, the genuine European ones look really nice.

A replica of the number plate in European Union is also seen in my area as well.I think the blue color is a sticker job and i think it is not made by using the equipment that is used to make the IND number plate.Looks a wee bit cheap though. My opinions may change after some time though.

i just read this ,

"What is the snap lock all about?

The snap lock will hold the number plate in place on the vehicle. Any attempt to remove or replace the snap lock will cause the lock to break which makes it impossible to install any other number plate on the vehicle.
"

so what will happen in case the number plates breaks ? how will one remove the damaged plate ?

The same question was arised in my mind too.
I guess it could be fixed within the RTO. I am sure there would be a solution for this or else this is totally stupid!

I think the snap lock is sort of a like a crew which breaks when you try to remove the number plate such a way that it closes the hole that is made by the manufacturer to hold the number plate.

If the number plate breaks , you should go and inform the RTO.You think it like this way, what happens when your car's key is broken?

People rig so called tamper proof meters in auto's itself, this snap lock is a piece of cake for car thief's if you just take a look at the methods they use, come on !! These guys carry a ecu unit with them to get around the cars engine immobilizer.I have commented in #79 on this thread before about miscreants trying to remove my plates,so if we install this plate am sure breaking IND plates will become there fav pass time just like making graph markings on our cars. Some people get joy by damaging other peoples properties. But still this seems better than other weird numb plates used out there.
