Re: Xenons HID Lamps Thread

Hey goaboy. evoformance alfas bulbs are the best approximation to a full hid lighting system.
They are extremely bright and have an ultrawhite color. They dont require a complicated electrical arrangement and project approximately two times a normal halogen bulb. please do check it out at www.evoformance.com,. since i see u are from goa available at most north goa car acc. stores. Looks like all people from goa are told to stay away from phillips.

The projector on my car is the low beam while the normal reflector is high beam.
Also did you change the full assembly of your headlight or just added the projector cause someone told me i could have done that. if that is true than may be i to could have had the motorised cutoff on the headlights as the original headlight assemby had it. please advise

Thanks for that. I changed the whole assembly. I recommended HID's in low since low is mostly used. So investing a lot of money on high is a waste. If budget is not a problem then you can install HID's in high too.

These old models dont have auto leveling. This means that the beam level cant be adjusted. It needs to be done by an expert.Whereas, this new model can be adjusted by us since it's got auto leveling.

Re: Xenons HID Lamps Thread

Okey guyz I fitted Hids on my DZire's headlamps today. I was a 3hr long DIY. [evil]

Now according to me the fitting was done properly; but the thing is that some times the hi/low beam doesnt works.
I mean suppose if I shift to hi beam the light goes to high; and if i shift back to low beam; the light beam does not. Also some times one side's beam will work fine and some times it will not. I am really confused.

Also if I shift to hi or low; the indicator near the speedometer shows blue light of high beam only.

Help needed urgently.[frustration]

Are you facing this with only one bulb? If so, there's something wrong with the bulb.

Re: Xenons HID Lamps Thread

This problem exists when the car is switched on.
Please check if you have correctly done with the wiring. You can check if the faulty part is HID bulb by, simply disconnecting them and using the other ballast.

Hid+ projector is always a good one. You get maximum of a hid.

Yes tuning them in non - motorized one is a big job. But that is my job!

Yep every one must have seen your car.
Since you have already a 4300K in head lamp i suggest you you to go to 8000K one with bluish light. it will be good.

Frankly speaking , yellowish must go in fogs
4300K is the best color to go. Anything beyond 6000K will simply get you struck in the rains. Above 6000K, everything is for show off. I prefer 4300K.[;)]

As ilango mentioned, these cars have two separate bulbs. One for Low and other for high. For these, you will need two HID kits. 4 HID bulbs and 2 pairs of ballast. I would recommend to stick with HIDs on low and higher rating halos on high (white output). This best example would be the new corolla altis. It's got 4300k HIDs on low and normal halos on high.

Laura has HID projectors for Low and normal halos for high.
High end cars like Audi, BMW got projectors for both.

My car got a single projector setup which use a single HID bulb for low and high.

Projector cost vary for different cars. For eg, The twin eye projector setup for Swift (Old model) is around 9k without HIDs and the Single full CCFL projector setup (The one I have - new model) is around 13k.

HIDs without projectors will definitely blind oncoming traffic. So I wouldnt recommend this. The road visibility will be bad without projectors. Usually, HIDs without projectors are meant for show off.

Corolla Altis got a 4300k HIDs on low beam only. The high beam is normal halos. There is no projector setup for Altis.

Laura got projector for low and normal halos for high.

Hope this makes everything clear.
Going for aftermarket projector headlamps is not the way in my opinion. But, if you get a good set of aftermarket projector headlamps as Naveen got, then its good. But the best way to do a HID Projector conversion is to do the retrofit. Retrofits, even though expensive, they are well worth for every penny spend.[:)]

hey naveen, could u insist me to some shops here in cochin.

I would like to add the same setup u had in ur SWIFT to my i20 headlight.Could you suggest me a good shop in cochin and the price 2.
Hi, I can help you out with i20 projector conversion.[cheers]

Re: Xenons HID Lamps Thread

Forget everything I explained before..[frustration]

Okey after using these HIDs; I have the following problems:

A: The Hibeam indicator in the meter is always on whether the HIDs are in low or high beam.

B: Now the thing is that when the car is off; and if I check the HIDs they seem to work fine for sometime. (the blue highbeam indicator is always there!)

C: Now when I turn on the car; or when I am driving; if I switch to high beam, the beam shifts; and when I shift to low beam; the beam doesn't switches. After some time say 3-4 minutes; it switches.

D: When I use the dipper once; the beam first goes to high, then for 0.5 seconds it shifts to low beam; then the light is gone.

E: Can any one tell how to manually adjust the beams of headlight for Swift DZire. My left side headlight is focused down near the bumper of the car; even after the adjustment is positioned to the highest in the switch given.

Thanks!!

For the problems A to C, I have a strong feeling that your stalk might be the faulty thing. I too have had the same problem, but not in this frequency.
Do check your OEM headlamp fuses situated at the engine room. If the fuse is still maintained at 10amps to 15amps, I would suggest you to use the 25amps fuse.

If the problem persist, disconnect the HID and see if you are facing the same problem using the Halogens.

With regard to manual adjustment of headlamp, open the hood and you will see two screws that hold the headlamp reflector in the headlight. take a * screw driver and turn it to achieve the required position. Remember to keep the headlamp leveler to the 2nd positon or 3rd before doing this, you may need to change levels upon conditions.

Hope this helps![:)]

First of all thanks for a quick reply buddy.

I didnt understand what is meant by STALK in your comment.

Secondly halogens were working fine till the day before the installation; except the beam adjustment problem.

Thirdly; I am finding those two screws from a year or so; but till now I am unable to find it. Do you have any pics for reference. I have a Swift DZire 2008.

Thanks

Stalk I referred here is the controller stick you switch on the headlight, do the flashing stuff. If it goes kaput, there is a chance of this problem.

The screws are at the back side of the headlamp. I dont have the pic of swift. But I think you will have to look it deep inside. It should be there anyhow![surprise]

Yes, the passenger side is the most irritating part. May be you will have to remove the headlamp and do the adjustments. Simply screw it clockwise and anti clock wise for adjusting. But its a trial and error method. The screws wont get into the passenger side unless you have really small screw drivers![frustration]
