update:

the ac vibration was found to be the unbalanced ac condensor fan.
the small condensor fan who had a broken leaf vibrates the whole car.

New fan leaf - fixed.

Major issue. the ride was bumpy and worst - not sierra like.
reason was narrowed down to the rear shocks that i bought.
since it was truck's . it was having less travel distance as it is already compressed and fixed.

bought the scorpio rear shocks , welded one more ring to make the correct distance and fixing work is going on .
fingers crossed

i started to love my car after the shockabsorber change!

Well the body roll is tooooo much.

I should i have bought the original sierra suspension in cbe(coimbatore) when i went there to purchase the other spare parts. Now it is a big process to order from cbe hence got the scorpio's rear shocks!

the car SWINGS , BTW i have tested only with 2 ppl on board but the bumpy stiff ride is vanished.

well i have not got the 2 mini truck shocks . Any jeepers want them ?

well

yes Vinod, the previous dampers just made the ride worse and i didnt suspect them.

Now with the scorpio dampers , the car has too much body roll.

its just too much. People will feel it is uncontrollable . something kind of.
But it is comfortable. Absorbs all the potholes easily without any drama.

Now the front seem worn out.

Today's new behavior . The reverse lights started to glow on the turn of the key. the reverse gear is not engaged.

Sierra are cars that are owned with passion .
its not for people with regular mind! its for irregulars! haha!

Sierra/ jeeps like cj , mm540 , bullet are thing that are different breed .
...
member hari said that , the mech is in hosur

Congrats on getting your dream car.
I know how you feel, I have a bullet.
I am looking for a cj or 540 but my relative discourages me, says they have too much rattling/vibration, suggests to go for Lancer.
Who is the hosur mech?
Best regards

i had a plan to buy a tbts after sierra body work , but owning a new car is 1st compared to the tbts. so dropped the plans for the present financial conditions.

you can very well build a vibration free 540 is you hit a right mechanic!

Update on my car :

the body roll is awesome , if in a new car no one would buy them haha!
planning to change the front dampers next month to OE one.

Hi Ilango,
After reading your whole review, I am impressed with your enthusiasm for this vehicle and your positive attitude. Now I am thinking of buying a used Sierra, instead of diesel Lancer, I may sell my Zen.
Do you have any suggestions/tips/checklist on what to check before buying a used Sierra?
Should I open a separate thread for this?
Thanks for sharing,
God bless you,
Regards,
Sunil

Ilango,

@ Ilango
Does the Sierra have an air compressor, like trucks & buses?

The car is just doing fine.. Its daily drive to office 4 times including lunch.

The ac is pretty cool without any tints etc. For this much big cabin space.

Last week the original window motor got kaput.. it was exposed to rain and paint dust for the 10 months - driver side.
Got one from 2nd hand market chennai and is working fine.

Installed the sub woofer , that was removed from my lancer.

Somewhere a months before i replaced all oils. Arrested the oil leak in oil sump.

Nice going there Ilango, but this thread needs more pictures[:)].

Maintaining a Sierra Turbo in these times and speaking about financial problems ha ha ha[lol]; c'mon, don't be so modest.

How have the rubber beadings held up all these years? What about rust? Do the door handles and locks work smoothly? How good is the clutch? Could you please post a pic of the Scorpio dampers? What engine oil are you using?

You will not believe , the spending on engine and mechanical is almost like owning a indica kind of. Spare part say wheel bearing is 500/- odd , where as same for say duster is 4000/- odd.

In addition to that , my mechanic works for free haha.

I have fully refurbished my car with new rubber linings etc. i'll post recent pictures very soon. FB is banned in office so i cannot copy from FB now :)

How many wheel bearings come in a single wheel in front? In Safari there are two of them, one bigger and the other being smaller in size.

Correct Each Wheel has two One Big and one small. Together they will not not cost more than 2k

I too had changed my wheel (Both front) bearings some months back.

yes , 2 bearing assy , as a set for one wheel it was 500 odd when i changed it last time.

It is the daily drive and is running fine.

Foound some diesel smell and opened the bonnet.

The Fuel pump is leaking from one point , may be due to worn out "o" ring.

thought the leaking point is at the top, i may remove the whole Fuel pump tomorrow and give it for full service to change all the rubber "o" ring as well as the bearings inside them.

tomorrow she is going to visit the clinic. !
