Re: Service for new Hyundai car

I am planning to buy a new Hyundai i10 from a certain dealer in Chennai but I don't like their service. Is it possible to give the car to any nearest Hyundai service center for the free and paid services after purchasing the car? Or is it mandatory to give the car for service only with the dealer whom we have purchased the car?? if somebody can please clarify this. [confused]
Yes. You can take your car for service to any Hyundai Service center you like.

Its located on the driver side B piller ( Lower side). It is also located under the bonnet next to the battery. The first thing you can do is to get your car underbody coated from 3M. They also have list of services which you can take. Make sure you don't rev your car too high till the run in period of 1000 km. Generally it should be around 1500 rpm.

Also I want to know what is the benifit of underbody coating? I will definately take care of run in period
It a is paint like coating which is sprayed into the underbody, wheel well & etc to prevent rust. It comes with X years warranty (where x depends upon package you choose) and every year the coating is checked and resprayed if necessary.

However, its is optional and I don't recommend it because the rust usually doesn't occur to the area that is being treated under the package name "underbody coating". I mean nowadays all cars come with factory coated anti-rust coating or galvanized to the underbody metal so rust doesn't occur easily to it. Atleast not within 10 years.

But hinges, fenders, exhaust pipe, door bottoms, engine guard and etc (even if they are painted) are more exposed to rust so you should take care of these often. Read these guides: Link 1, link 2, link 3 and also search "How to Prevent Rust on Your Car" in google for more guides.

For maintaining and detailing your car, read this whole thread and your car should be good as new. [:D]

Wheels n Alloys

Hello Gurus..

This is my first thread in this forum, please spare me for the errors. Admins please move to the right thread is needed.

Recently i bought Swift Vxi o, i wanted to go for alloys and i went and bought GTR alloys. once i finished fitting and drove back, i had lot of questions in mind. One important thing is the wheels itself, shows it is supported? are the struts and bolts the only thing that supports the whole weight of the car. sprung and unsprung weight. if so are they really that tough. i could see in lot of forums that the weight is supported by the hub and it is only supported by struts and bolts. Please enlighten me in this. Is the weight and power of the car supported only by the 16 nuts? won't it snap. please advice waiting reply.

Fuel indication on Swift Dzire

Hey guys...
I have a Swift Dzire vdi and since last two years never saw my fuel indicator blinking. This friday,I did full tank and went on to Lansdowne, but while returning, roughly after 690kms the indicator started blinking.
Though I refilled it in the nearest fuel station, but it left me with few questions...

01. Does it mean the vehicle is on reserve ?
02. What is the reserve capacity of my Dzire Vdi ? (2015 make)
03. What is the actual tank capacity ? Because when I refilled it, almost 36 ltrs came in (I hope the reserve fuel was still there)

Queries about AMT Cars

I have few queries about AMT cars in general and specifically about Tiago AMT. I am newbie to AMT cars and as per my understanding they can be driven in manual as well as automatic mode. These are some queries in this regard.

1. Mileage
- Does tiago AMT gives less mileage compare to normal tiago?
- Will tiago AMT give less mileage if driven in manual mode compare to normal tiago?

2. Maintenance
- Whether maintenance cost of tiago AMT higher then normal tiago?
- How many years AMT will work in good condition?
- Is it difficult finding mechanic for AMT cars repair in emergency case?

3. Effectiveness
- Whether AMT cars as effective as normal car when driven in manual mode?
- Can AMT cars safely driven at high speed around 90kmph?
- Does AMT system gets affected if most of the time car driven in manual mode?

Looking forward your reply. Thank you.

AMT = Automated Manual Transmission.

A key piece of information for you would be that an AMT is simply a Manual Transmission with a hydraulic shifting mechanism on top that can be controlled by the computer. That said, the only differences arise from this mechanism.

Theoretically, the mechanism will be consuming energy and experiencing wear, so the mileage may go down and maintenance may go up if usage patterns are absolutely identical (improbable). However, it is likely even these differences will make no practical or noticeable difference in real life. Rather, if the computer program is designed to maximize fuel economy, it would often outsmart humans for better results.

There is no reason for an AMT to be less capable than a manual at speed, provided it has the same gear ratios. Also, when you drive it in manual mode, you're simply telling the computer when to shift, rather than it telling itself when to shift - so this wouldn't affect it much either, unless your shift pattern is very harsh.

All things considered, an AMT is slightly more complex (mostly by virtue of electronics) than the equivalent manual, but that can be said for almost any technological development - even central locking. As to whether this marginal complexity is a worthy trade off for the convenience, is up to you.

Hi Mr.Vinod,

I timed mine with "December discounts time". When Verna was selling hot (in 2012), I got the best deal; they accepted whatever I demanded [;)]. If you don't much care about resale value and can wait for 6 months, then December would be nice.

Otherwise, the "Navrathri to Diwali" period is de best with discounts. Wish you Good luck. your
