@ Figoian, your city mileage seems ok. Hence, there shoulnt be any major problem with highway mileage as well.

Just to add what hemant said - At times have noticed this, even though we keep a check on top speed, unknowingly we will be pushing too much in lower gears. When I switch to 'instant mileage indicator' display mode on MID, I observe this. When am in mood for 'mileage' drive, this MID display helps me to correct driving style immediately and I tend to go little easy in lower gears.

@Vivek, ensure that you wont end up lugging the engine too much. Your 90 hp beast deserves more than just mileage and definitely wont like lugging [evil] [:D]

Not really... Initially, when I moved to Bangalore (last March), I have been traveling to office via one of the most congested roads of Bangalore (Banaswadi to Whitefield via KR Puram[clap]) during peak hours i.e 9 AM and 7 PM. After struggling for about 6 months, I changed my timings to 12 to 8 PM just to avoid the rush hour. So the traffic flow is comparatively lesser than earlier and I could do it in 30 - 40 mins which is otherwise would take 1 - 2 Hrs one way. However, the FE remains to be the same either ways. Isn't that a point to think about?

I was pretty conscious in this trip, just to check on this factor. So can't be a reason I think. Moreover, couple of months ago, I did a Mumbai trip in 3 days (Total 2K KMs). While going, it was a whole night journey and I was speeding at 120 - 140 mostly and between Pune - Mumbai, just did in flat 1 hour. The FE was about whooping 19. However, while returning, I did a stable 80 - 120 speed and resulted in 17. Just couldn't figure out the irony...[frustration]

Now, what about these ones then?

BTW, DTE is always between 550 - 620 depending on past driving patterns and it reduces drastically for every drive... Say, for a drive of 13 KMs it reduces by 15 - 25 depending on conditions. However, when the Tank is just a little less than full, the DTE stops for about 50 - 100 KMs and then restarts it's count down again. And thereafter, it wound reduce more than what you will expect. By the first 2 - 3 KMs, it would move down by 6 - 7 KMs and then 1:1 or similar.

@ Figoian,

- Why not change the bunk you refill diesel and observe?
- I have observed this: Altitude does play a role in mileage factor. May be not convincing, but it has an impact. Like for eg - While returning from Chennai to Blore, without ones knowledge car would be moving towards higher altitude. Have observed mileage patterns in couple of my friend's vehicle as well. Blore-Chennai mileage is usually better than Chennai-Blore. This might not be a complete answer to your issue. But an observation I wanted to share.

I did... No use yet. Tried most of the pumps in the vicinity and all found to be the same.

Agreed. I too have noticed the difference in Power, Pulling Effect and FE as well. But IMO, it's negligible compared to driving in Hills / Ghat sections where the impact would be major. In this case, it would be present but very minimal.

Sir, did you fill from same pump, dispenser and attendant after both the test cycles?

If yes , then there must be subtle difference between your and tester's driving methods. I presume you followed the same route and had same density of traffic.

Sparks are known to give mileage anywhere between 13-15 in city conditions, 10 is way too low.

Yes everything is same. I thought of doing it again by myself to find it out.

This is also my concerns, could you please tell me symptoms via which i would know that my ride is lugging. I know that 90 hp deserves more than this but what to do when you can't rev. in city's traffic other than focusing on mileage.

^^ Nothing much, just change the gear as per the need rather than being conscious as to not to exceed particular RPM. Engine's noise is the best way to judge whether it is lugging. Remember, MJDs are rev friendly and liked to be revved once in a while atleast [:D]

Hey Buddies.

It can be said that we Indians take more care towards nature, Reason we are all obsessed with mileage of our cars, Right!

Ok, So whats my mileage figure - Guess what.

ITS 30 KMPL.

VEHICLE : TATA NANO
BEST MILEAGE : 30 KMPL (A/C - ONLY FOR 10% / 90% HIGHWAY)
WORST MILEAGE : 17+ (100%AC - 2 POINTS - LOCAL USE)
NORMAL HIGHWAY MILEAGE : 23+ (100% AC)

I AM REALLY IMPRESSED with the nanos TWIN cylinder engine, If the car is driven at 70 kmph in highways, the car give a mileage easily of 30+

For a petrol engine - thats way too high... i love it.

(My palio 1.6 - Drinks almost 2.5 times more fuel than my nano)

Its a jet buddy, don't underestimate its potential, you can assume her to be a budget race car. I drove it once and i know what it is, she can make many today's hot selling car shy.[evil]

I'll love to drive it again and again, its full of adrenaline rush while driving any 1.6 fiat.[;)]
