Your monthly usage is very low so petrol is advisable. If you monthly usage is more than 1000 KMS then diesel is good.

You go for petrol as whatever higher premium you will pay for diesel the amount of petrol used for that difference you will be able to cover it in many years so that is a big saving for you.

FIGO petrol will give you around 12 after first service and will also depend on how you drive it.

You will get 9-10 KPM initially with new car and dont panic.

In my view go for Petrol FIGO
initial usage may be lesser later on i might touch or go close to 1000 kms

did checked with the dealer they said nowadays diesel engines are almost like petrol only and he did introduced a figo diesel owner who driven only 450 kms per month and some times used to start the car weekly once only

one more reason is the FIGO diesel varient pickup and mileage is better than the petrol one [thumbsup]

Well yeah the modern day diesel engines will start up even if left unused for months. But the thing is if your running is not high its not worth spending on a diesel car.

For instance , If you take your car only once a week , what's the point in buying diesel? Running cost for diesel is less , but investment and maintenance is more. So you have to run your car daily to balance the running cost and maintenance. In this case you will not be able to take back the amount you invest in diesel engine , going for petrol is wise if running is less than 600KM monthly.

No doubt Diesel Variant pick up is good. Rightly said by Cooldhaya that there is no point if the car is to be taken out once a week, so no point in buying the diesel.

today again got a call from the dealer for getting the car for follow up checks. Good follow ups from them and they are giving really excellant service.

Decided to settle with the Diesel titanium

reason being sure of driving at least 800 kms per month and my family (wife) already prepared list of places to visit,

dealer said its 15+ on local and 20 or [surprise] 20+ on long where many review site shows low figures[confused]
per the dealer the will get good mileage after initial 5000 kms and will improve further after 10,000 kms

can some one tell me the mileage (city and long)

hopefully i will get licensed to drive by Jan and go fida over FIGO by Feb

If you are sure about that running then going in for a diesel is good.

FE i don know, think you can expect around 15kmpl in city and around 20kmpl in highways.

Initially you will get very low mileage but after first service it will improve.

you will get 18-20 mileage on long highways not intially but after 5000 KM.

Delivery will be probably in June and I have just given Rs.50K for the booking amount.

Color is not yet decided, have told them that I will change the color.

on 28th Dec I drove my figo around 800 KMS and it was real fun. I drove at 100-120 KM/Hr and felt so safe while driving at such a high speed.

The only drawback that it scrap the speed brakers whenever one does not take the precaution by negotiating it with very slow speed. At a nominal speed also the figo scraps the speed brakers

I have attached the image for the Door Guards and the gear lock.

basically gearlock locks the gear shift movement of the car so that no one can sift gears in case of a theft.
