Re: Ford Fiesta 2014: Review | Test Drive | Pictures

@1989rs500 Thanks for the information bro, there is no way I will be crossing 1 lakh kms in 4 years. I would like to know the price quoted for 4 year EW. Do you have any idea? At the max I will be clocking 15,000 kms a year and my ownership period of the Fiesta will be 6 years but not more than 7 years. So I need that EW very badly. since its bumper to bumper. This car has many electronics that may fail. So do you really recommend 4yr warranty ? Or do you think that 3year warranty is good enough. I will takecare of my car nicely.

No, I wouldn't go for the VW cars until and unless they improve their ASS, no matter how better they make their cars.
The reason I have so many queries about Fiesta is that I don't want to think that Ford is offering something less (read an SOHC-91 PS-8 valve) than it's competitors.

I have had 3 TDs and I fall for it every time I drive.
And I don't think that Fiesta can't win against the VW twins. It all depends on what the driver is capable of doing with the car, especially on Indian roads.

I just want to know what is Ford's point in offering what it is offering.

I too wouldnt take the EW as I too am an auto enthusiast so i usually try to take good care of my car whatever brand it is,if some one is of the kind that they cant care the car much the extended warranty is worth the take and I too wont keep a car more than 7 years,my figo is just 4 years old and has done just 20k kms, means just 5k kms a year,if i take a diesel thar will bump to around 8k kms a year,a new petrol like ecoboost will do just fine for my use

I have tried dev7 fiesta cant win a drag,or even a sprint or drag battle with the VW twins,POWER is POWER thats why even though VW ASS isnt doing well here in trivandrum I respect the brand VW for the sheer quality, attention to detail and power they offer with their cars, if you take any segment except the A segment VW have the cars with best balance like Polo is most balanced premium hatch, has most powerful engines and best auto gearbox DSG, vento, rapid too has most powerful diesel ,petrol and most balanced package, in c +segment sedans no car launched in india is even close to new Octavia or Jetta in any account, same goes to D segment the Passat and superb are simply value for money Audi A6, so that VAG brand is too big and too powerful to be defeated head on,my european friend Bob told that VAG is going to buy Fiat, chrystler,Ferrari,Abarth by 2018 so the group is unbeatable for some generations
The point is balanced cars are good if one thinks with logic and if heart says i can sacrifice that lack of space and power for supreme driving machine then there is nothing to look for the FF are the best options FORD OR FIAT

I agree that ASS is poor at the same time maintaining German cars are expensive. They use fully synthetic engine oil which is very expensive around 1100/- per litre and costs around 5,000/- odd just for the engine oil and these VAG engines have a habit of drinking engine oil and needs to be topped up every 7,500 kms. Their 15,000 km service schedule is ridiculous and it's purely a market act to attract people. Fiesta has a very torquey engine, in general even Honda city 1.5 i-vtech and Toyota 1.4 D-4D in Etios and corolla uses SOHC engines which doesn't mean that they are inferior to DOHC's. SOHC engines have their own advantages. They have good low end torque. Where as DOHC has good high end torque. SOHC has lesser moving parts in the engine, hence it's more reliable. You must also note that those 8 valves are bigger, they have increased the size, previous gen 1.6 TDCI used to come with 16 valves which were smaller. In bumper to bumper traffic or in ghat roads, any sedan is more or less the same like you said. But when you take it on to the highway or when you are cursing at a speed on an empty road, it's the fiesta which makes you feel confident and unnerving either on straight stretches or bends. If you are ready to put more money in maintaing a German sedan, then I don't find anything wrong with either vento or rapid. But I prefer Rapid over vento, as I have personally driven both the cars I can say Skoda Rapid has a slight edge over the vento. But, Skoda dealership is not good in Hyderabad. So I shy away from these cars. Even Ford dealership is not the best either but certainly not as poor as Skoda and also maintaining a Ford is cheaper than Germans. Apart from ASS, I don't find any reason to reject Skoda/VW cars. I don't mind shelling out extra money to maintain a German sedan but I also expect genuine and quality service. And of course I like the fiesta over skoda/VW because they simply cannot beat Fiesta in handling and also TDCI is a silent engine when compared to 1.6 TDI. And the kind of feeling that I get in Fiesta's cockpit, I don't get it in any c segment cars.

Does someone have actual pictures of Fiesta in all of its colours?

The dealer has only a white and a brown one here.

I had a talk with the VW SA in our area. He said that the company is planning to introduce semi-synthetic oil as on option to the customers who do not want to go for the expensive one, but that too applicable only after 1 year of ownership.

But actually VAG recommended oil is fully synthetic and its wise to use fully synthetic and topup whenever necessary. And I don't understand this, why should one has to use fully synthetic oil for an year and later given the option to change ? I smell something fishy here. Its always like this with skoda/VW. Anyways I stay from German cars as far as their after sale service is concerned and their ridiculous spare part prices. Whatever car you buy from VW, you will get a guarenteed bill of above 10,000/- from your first service. Whenever my friend gives his polo for service, I wish he gets the bill below 10,000/- atleast once, but he never gets under 10k.

Sorry for deviating from the topic. Just wanna share a info about the bill in VW Polo.

I used to give my friends VW Polo for the servicing in VW A.S.S here in Trivandrum. For every service the average bill is Rs.12,000. Now it has clocked 90,000 Kms. In the next service he has to change the timing belt and the related kits. For that have to add a extra 20,000. [confused]

Yes in a way skoda and VW are poor mans luxury car, have a friend who has an 2006 Audi A6 TDI and he itself once admitted that the 48 lakh Audi A6 is a VW Passat with Audi badge and some interior treatment,so the VW twins only charges service costs high apart from that the things we get with them are quiet unmatched, like interior fit and finish, solid feel and construction, super quiet interior, all power windows one touch up and down, projector head lamps,Most powerful engine, above average driving dynamics, great ride quality, space inside ,practical features, all come in a well rounded affordable package,my friend who owns Fabia 1.3 pump duce has clocked nearly 120000 kms in his car still runs fine sure he had to pay a lot of bills but happy that no other car still in the vicinity of 7-8 lakh rs provides luxury like skoda does, also he runs nearly 35k kms a year so the 15k service interval suits his purpose,if it was 10k kms he would have to take car to service 3 times a year, now he gives his car for service during february and the second during october
So If service cost is no issue the VW twins are unbeatable, also the ASS is pretty bad generally, that keeps VW twins at check, think of it,if service was good then the VW twins are almost perfect cars

Seems fords firsta has done way better than what was expected, now why is it that they are not promoting fiesta even after seeing glimpse of success, till today no fiesta facelift in the capital city of Kerala, bucket loads of Honda City is out by now and in every nook and corner i see Hondas,
This is bad move,if there is a car to take a look at least only people will come to know about it

642 Fiesta's were sold in July 2014. Seems to be a good start from the ashes where it was earlier. Lets see how people respond.
Dude, I have been waiting for these sales figures. Even today morning I thought of posting my query regarding Fiesta sales figures in the month of july. And yes 1989rs500,wherever I go I see buckets of Honda city's lying around everywhere [:)]. People are buying them like crazy. I see a lot of women getting attracted to Honda city. Majority of the Honda city's I see on the road are either mostly driven by uncles who are in mid 30s, and mostly by women and girls of various age groups or drivers. As far as I am concerned I dont find any difference in comfort or performance in between Amaze and city. Leaving the space and gizmos aside. If the Fiesta is sold consistently until december, I can say that Fiesta is a success. It need not sell like 7,000 odd like honda city, but if it continues to sell in 600s then its a good achievement. If it can outsell VW vento then I will be even more happy. I will also add a number to Fiesta's sales charts in the coming months. Fiesta is selling because of its attractive price, but people will only recognize its value when they appreciate the way it drives.

Yea thats right, but with the launch of Maruti Ciaz the chance that Fiesta post now will vanish, neberthless its a good sighn that good pricing and good driving cars are accepted well, the sad part i was referring ro is all these sales figures dosent include a lot of places such as trivandrum, kollam etc in Kerala, I am sure if Ford had kept at least 1 car as test drive car per delaer the number 600 would have easily crossed 800,a lot of places in India dont even know that Fiesta has been launched, not even a poster of face lift fiesta ,thats proper mismanagement when there could have been demand, they missed a gem of an opertunity, even I would have become a customer of face lift Fiesta if it had been in showrooms here,I asked for an official test drive as well, even still they didnt respond,so it shows negligence,so I didnt push too much,if they bring one I will take, never before Ford has shown this kind of attitude, even Ecosport was there for test drive and showroom purpose when the supply chain was messed up.

Who will buy that ciaz if Maruti gives the same old 1.3 mjd for a such a big car. The car will be still underpowered even with a VGT. As far as I know 1.3 mjd engine is a hit with swift. But they tried to sell SX4 with the same engine which was a failure and even ertiga didn't do well. But Maruti pretty well knows that people will fall for the looks and space than what it has inside the car. And why is your Ford dealer so backward when rest of the dealerships around the country are already updated their inventory, having a test drive vehicle ready, and they are even calling me once in a while and disturbing me. Your dealer has no interest in selling fiesta I guess. If he couldn't sell a car properly, I doubt how well would they show interest in servicing a car. If I am in your position, I would have waited & waited and finally get pissed off and go and buy a Skoda/VW improving their sales charts.

Yup thats why I got a little soft corner towards VW twins right now specially Rapid, still those super boring looks dosent excite or pull me towards it,
I heard that Ford will be doing 5 new launches in 2015 2 face lifts and 3 new products, face lifts include Ecosport,Endeavour, and new products include Figo sedan and other two are again mystery,if Ford is ready to launch Fietsa with ecoboost or the speculated Ford Escort sedan, I will happily buy either of those, even if I have to travel 220+ kms to anothrr Ford delaer.
