Without spare wheel on rear Ecosport will surely miss SUV stance IMO. lets wait and see. Ford can try AT in ecosport , since creta already having and duster also going to have AT soon (I don't is it rumor but read somewhere).
I think it will look fine even without spare wheel, though it will loose some of its macho appeal,
Also the TDCI 8v engine cannot be mated with Fords DCT 250 dry clutch unit, its best its mated with DCT 350 which is a wet clutch unit, but thats too expensive for Ford to do in such a segment, VW makes DSG in house so they can manufacture it at very low costs unlike Ford which relies on Getrag for their gear boxes,
Ford has regular AT 6 spees torque converters but I havent seen them use it for small diesel applicationsaybe its too heavy or some technical hurdles might be haunting them,
Anyway I am pretty sure Ford wont be giving diesel AT cars to us in carz less than 20 laksh here in India. Petrol AT will be plenty though.

Help needed....
With the confusions in my mind, I am to decide between Ecosport Trend Vs Ciaz VDI+
All I need in the Trend Variant is- "Rear parking sensor".
I know I am missing out on airbags, but nothing cant be done about it.
Has anybody got a trend and Installed a parking sensor??
AND
What more can you expect from the upgraded ecosport? will the performance/milege improve with the Aspire's engine? Or should I take the old one at very negligible discount??
I can afford to wait a month more before booking one.

Ecosport vs Ciaz is a very large scoped cross shopping, Ciaz is for pure Value, its cheap to run buy and maintain has got good features and a comfortable ride as well,
Ecosport is for that style presence and 200 mm GC and all together different approach, the Parking sensors can be fitted at any after market shops ranging from Rs 5000-12000 or even 20000 for some with camera etc, but Airbags is a miss.
The updated Ecosport too might not have Airbags as standard like on Aspire since its affordable price tag might cross certain limits, but most of the changes might really happen in the engine with new 100 HP tune as opposed to 90 of now and better ride quality and handling and interior quietness and on the higher trims a few more added features can be expected, Its just 1 month away from launch, if Ecosport can be got for discounts try bargaining for Titanium variant, of course Trend will save a lot of money, but Airbags are life savers, so if we can always give priority to safety

Thanks.
They only have one model of old Trend in silver colour and another stardust Titanium. I think I should wait for the new variant. can afford to spend another 20-30K extra for the goodies.
By The Way, even Aspire Titanium doesnt have the Parking sensor. Shocking. I am spoiled by the i20's parking sensor and cant live without one.

Yes its an option in the Aspire, but since the Aspire is a car under 4m I dont feel the need for it, I feel w become better drivers without parking sensors [:)]
Also the new feature list of Ecosport will probably include whats missing on Ecosport but is there in Aspire

Question for Petrol Ecosport owners, I have not bothered with engine guard since Ford has fitted this only for Diesel Ecosports to protect the Diesel Sump. The 1 year service is due at the End of October. Is this something I should consider fitting?

For Petrol engines its not necessary, even still IF @adivik does some mild water crossing stuff etc then it will be a good addition, if driving is mostly in city /highway, not a must.

Most of my drives are in Chennai City and Highways, dont see any river crossing unless it rains heavily and roads get flooded.[:)]

I see that Ford is giving discount of Ecosport purchases, is this an indication that the rumored face lift will arrive in Oct-15 with better suspension, lower GC by 10mm and Diesel getting 100HP engine of Aspire?

Today went for test drive of Aspire AT and there were a few surprises
1. 2015 Figo hatch will be launched soon, Harry Ford Trivandrum has got orders for 6 Figo hatches coming within 2 weeks time
2. Ecosport facelift has been briefed to service engineers, the briefing was at Kochi, and between the briefing they showed a low resolution pic of the Ecosport face lift, The person who saw it says it looked like the front grill has gone slightly upwards and there are DRLs on top spec variant
3. The engine will be tuned to 100 HP, the silver MID plastics will be replaced with Aspire like Gloss balck,
4. Rain sensing wipers, option to remove spare wheel, new alloy wheels, comes as additional features some more might be added which they didnt reveal
5. India might not get the reduced GC but suspension will be made smoother and more compliant, also the cabin insulation will be worked one level UP

It seems the launch will take place soon, they are guessing a date of 2nd week of October

They also stressed that Ford is no more a one trick pony brand, like it used to be from 2016 onwards

If the GC is not being reduced but the suspension is being made better, will it be possible to get those changes in suspension done for existing Ecosports? That is the major grouse I have with my Ecosports right now.

I dont know about that, still its the suspension setup thats getting changed, not the suspension as a whole, also new Damper might be used, so I dont think its an easy job to be done in current Ecosport, one can always opt for after market soft springs for Ecosport as of now but it will void warranty and dynaics might get compromised.

There's a lot of construction work (apartments and offices) happening in my neighborhood and lots of bricks, loose pebbles, stones etc lying around, so I got the engine guard fixed at the time of delivery itself. Some peace of mind at least.
