I would beg to disagree when it comes to automatic it should either be the DSG or the torque converter because amt is too jerky and CVT suffers from rubber band effect . DSG offers lighting quick upshifts and even in city traffic it does not confuse itself and selects the right gear. Since you have owned a superb I would not say much but have seen people on other forums who have said that they will sell there bmw's but not the tsi it is that explosive but then you have been there and driven it so no argument here. Quality I have always felt comes from how well the interior are screwed together, proper shutlines and proper carpeting in the boot and I feel vw car scores pretty well in that area. Feature list is also pretty good in vw/skoda cars.comparing seats of superb with brio is taking things a bit too far imo. As for stability on highway these german cars are definitely better than there asian counterparts highway stability of these germans is of tall order and on a winding section throw a polo in a corner and then a baleno or i20 you will feel the difference. There are problems with vw/skoda but not with the products but with the management.
I agree about AMT being jerky
CVT rubber band effect is a matter of personal preference, while it "shifts" slower than others, its fairly smooth and more reliable than the likes of DCT/DSG
Are you really willing to suffer maintenance and reliability issues whilst burning a hole in your pocket just for "lightning shifts" in DSG/DCT when a torque converter especially such as AISIN or ZF8/ZF9 offer much better performance and reliability or take a slight drop in shift speeds and opt for ATs such as Hyundai's 6 speed which is a fantastic gearbox with near equal performance paired with much better engines (2.0 CRDI)
DSG/DCT is obviously confused in City traffic, you dont feel it because of the dual clutch wherein shifts are not felt but when you face mechatronics failure, youll realize
I personally dont feel VAG cars are "better" in any way especially interiors where the competition has caught up and even surpassed VAG
Ive owned 2nd gen Superb TSI and it was a good car for its time, much better than the competition barring the Accord V6 and 2.4 IVTEC
At the same time I owned 2nd gen CRV 2.4 as well
Superb was a pain to maintain towards the end of 3 years and I sold it off within 5 years of ownership whereas my CRV being older was a breeze and I sold it when it turned 9.5 years old and it still ran like a champ
German "stability" is a myth and if you buy the right car, youll see German dynamics are a thing of the past (2000s)
I never compared Brio seats with Superb, I compared Brio seats with Polo/Vento/Rapid
Superb has fantastic seats but the same cant be said about Polo/Vento/Rapid
Since you are comparing Polo with i20 and Baleno, I dont think you should be driving at those high speeds anyways on our highways
Ive driven all the above cars at high but sane speeds and Ive not felt much of a difference
Also Polo seat comfort, driving position and space on the inside is a joke, feels more like an Alto in terms of legroom
My SIL sold off her Polo after numerous maintenance issues too
Feature list ? what feature list? lack of proper touch screens, proper seating, the poor quality of mirror adjust knobs
I think you need to see the more recent competition , they have all caught up or surpassed
If I have to buy a new car, Id 100% buy an Ecosport top end over a Polo
Im very wary of non-Asian brands but Ford is definitely my pick
Yes the videos can be played only when car is stationary, not while moving.
3rd party rear seat entertainment systems are plenty in market, any brand with good reviews and ratings will do fine
Rather buy an iPad or any other decent tablet and mount it as rear seat entertainment imho
