Gunagdong Foday explorer 7 would be a good successor to a FORCE ONE.

Spied Gunagdong Foday. The Force One SUV is nothing but an Indianized version of the Guangdong Foday Explorer, a Chinese SUV. While the body panels and interior are borrowed from the Explorer, the chassis was developed in-house by Force. Its 2.2L engined driveline is licensed by Daimler.

The Force One may not be matching the company’s expectations yet but the SUV shows promise in Tier 2 places and beyond and that’s the reason why the Pune based automaker is working on new high end and entry level variants.

And what will Force Motors replace it with in the future? It could be the upcoming new Foday SUV you are seeing in the spyshots. Codenamed NHQ6480, the SUV is tentatively named as the Explorer 7.

Exactly a year ago, we presented you the patent sketches of this SUV! The test mule spotted in China looks every bit the same as depicted in the patent.

As you can see, its overall dimensions are larger than that of the Force One and the SUV sports a pretty decent design. The high set narrow headlamps and an imposing grill define the front fascia. The car looks handsome in profile and the rear fascia too is neatly executed with horizontally stacked taillights.

The dashboard also looks modern and neatly designed. The interior is finished in brown and beige with generous usage of faux wooden trims. The centre console has a multimedia infotainment display.

According to reports, the SUV could be powered by 2.0 litre and 2.2 litre Mitsubishi derived petrol engines and a 2.8 litre diesel engine sourced from Isuzu.

The Foday Explorer 7 will go on sale in China later this year – If not replacing, would to like to see this SUV complementing the Force One sometime in the future?

Re: Force Launches "One" - The 140 BHP SUV

Spied – Force One 4×4 variant testing

Force Motors is expected to launch the Force One in a couple of new variants. On the one hand, the Force One would get a lower spec variant and as a result sport a reduced price tag.

On the other hand, Force Motors is expected to launch a top-end version of the Force One with four-wheel drive. While we brought you some spyshots of the car testing in Maharashtra sometime last year, it appears that Force Motors continues to test the Force One 4×4.

The only giveaway that this is not an ordinary version is the ’4×4′ badge at the top-right corner of the bootlid. You can also see some ’4×4′ graphics on the sides of the car, just below the third window. The Force One 4×4 is also expected to get some feature additions to make it a bit more premium.

Motorbash reports that they have spoken to some Force officials who have said that the Force One 4×4 will be launched in July. It would naturally command a higher price than the existing variant.

The engine is expected to remain the same. It is powered by a Mercedes sourced 2.2-liter FMTECH diesel engine producing 141PS of power and 321Nm of torque. A 5-speed gearbox sends power to the rear wheels in the current Force One.

The Force One starts at about INR 11.7 lakhs (ex-showroom, Mumbai). In the next few months, expect a lower priced model in the form of the low cost Force One, and a higher price AWD Force One.

Still rear reminds me of Tavera.

In the pic ,it appears that the tailgate is not properly closed or there there is inconsistent panel gap.

Re: Force Launches "One" - The 140 BHP SUV; Edit: 4x4 and ABS versions launched

Update: Force Motors has (finally[clap]) launched the cut price version of the Force One @Rs. 8.99 lakh ex-showroom. This version is christened the Force One EX and comes with the Gurkha's TD 2650 FTI BSIII engine that develops 82 Ps @3200rpm and 230NM @ 1800-2000rpm. The gearbox remains the same too as the one in the Gurkha: the G1 -18/5B.

The ABS and 4x4 versions are here too. The Force One SX comes with ABS as an option (approximately Rs. 29000 more than the non-ABS equipped SX) and the top end LX comes with ABS and 4x4. These versions are available only with the 2.2 FMTECH BSIV engine. The 4x4 LX version gets an electronic shift on-the-fly transfer case with low ratio and also a Limited Slip Differential.

Price of the LX version is not disclosed yet (@ Iron Rock: Help!). However, one could safely add Rs. one lakh or so OTR over and above the price of the SX (ABS) for the LX 4x4 with LSD.

If I remember correctly, circa 1999, Force Motors were offering a version of the OM616 in the Judo that developed more than 90bhp. Of course, that was much before BS IV days. That said, since the rest of the underpinnings are the same, I think the EX version may make some sense to fleet operators and village bumpkins who want a large, solid vehicle for their daily chores. At Rs. 9 lakhs ex showroom, it does look pretty smart. And in any case, Force Motors is not looking at Tier I cities (BS III). When they are selling only a handful of Ones every month, selling a few more of them would certainly not hurt.

@Iron Rock: Am curious to know how the 82bhp engine performs in this guise.

They launched EX with 82 BHP, I wonder if this beast will be able to pull after full load and AC on. [frustration]

It has decent torque, so pulling under full load won't be too much of an effort, but yeah, progress will be extremely slow for sure.

Yes that's true, but price is high because of its sheer size. F1 is under full length SUV category like Ford Endy.

If Safari nips its niggles then storme is the best Indian SUV.
My heart always beat for Safari, but when i read 150+ pages of its issues on other auto site, i was scared of spending time in Tata Garage and opted for Sedan.
