@ RSM and Jayadev Yes i know its unfair to compare a Verna with Punto. Just wanted to say that Punto by no means can be called a powerful car even when compared to the rivals in its own segment. I believe even a Swift is faster than a Punto of course kerb weight plays a huge role here.

And as i said before suspension and handling is the best in Punto! I have not driven any other hatch which is so stable at all roads! The next best car is the Fabia in this point! So a Punto at 150+kmph will be more stable than my light weight Verna for sure. In fact i never suggest anybody to buy a Verna if the running is going to be mostly on the highways! And i have never said before anywhere in this forum that a Verna has great suspension and handling , have i? All Hyundai cars are poor handlers!

And yes to be precise i miss that acceleration in Punto! I am bit of an enthusiastic driver at times , so felt Punto is not the car for me for my daily driving! Even after the turbo kicks in the same can never be felt , thanks to the linear delivery. In some of the turbo-charged diesels i have driven they push you to the back of the seat literally! Swift Vdi and Verna CRDI to name a few! But again i agree , linear power delivery can be very useful in city driving conditions.

And Jayadev Honda City is petrol and my car is diesel! Initial pick-up of City will be more than Verna but in a longer run a Verna can beat City for sure! Cruze , i don know it has got 150BHP! But all the other cars in the segment , Fiesta , SX4 , City , Linea , Vento etc it can beat comfortably! My friend having a Verna CRDI has gone once 200+kmph once , no mods except the tyres , he is having 195 section with 15inchers. Just drive a Verna CRDI once if you get a chance , you will then know why i was disappointed with Punto's acceleration!

Again its unfair comparing a Verna to a Punto i know! Just wanted to say that Punto is not a car for me even though it has got 90HP. Apart from the lousy pick-up i love everything about the Punto! If FIAT can improve that then i will definitely consider Punto again!

Sorry again , no offence meant to anybody!

And Jayadev congrats for the new setup! Can you post the pictures?

clocking 4800km

gear lever and clutch is getting softer .
slight feel of right side drag (maybe time for wheel alignment, never did it yet.)
engine rev is getting smoother . it is getting smoother and muted .

called the service manager for the slight engine vibration felt on steering wheel, he said "it is quite normal due to diesal engine, nothing to worry. it wont increase anymore but stay at what you feel now".
asked some more things for which he rplied as,
"the ecu is programmed in punto for longer engine life and better mileage so less troubles and maintenance that is is why punto has longest service frequencies in its segment of diesel vehicles ..3k..15k..45k .

btw i do not know how is normal punto diesal. but i think it shares same technology as indica vista qdjet which i have driven for 12000km .if so then punto 90hp is light years ahead of normal punto.
the major issue one would face is, the armchair comfort of a Japanese like short clutches, short gear shifts, light steerings ,rhs steering wheel well managed space lighter wieght more fe faster performance et al ...would go haywire as in punto.
this punto 90hp cannot be relied on torque for acceleration or quick pickups.
it need to be revved up seriously like a petrol engine which is the hidden strength in it means more gear shifting for performance.

cooldhaya wrote; i love everything about the Punto! If FIAT can improve that then i will definitely consider Punto again!
well i have said too much about same thing as above in several comments.
finally i would say that fiat did not do any mistake by making it in such a way; bit sluggish.
they gave me more practicality and usability than performance and light weightedness .
feels tough strong, very torquey first gear very usefull at certain instances , most silent and fuel efficient at 70-80km which is allowed maximum speed in india,

Good discussion guys. Seems like jayadev is in deep love with his "girlfriend" aka Punto.[:)]
sure amiti, definitely i am. today i was whole day with her . not for any cause but just due to fact that i just dont want to get out of it.
i just met some old friends in their office, did some window shopping, sat at beach...
comfortable ride, good music system ,fully handsfree phone calls with voice dial and messages in mid ,excellent AC,accurate steering for perfect maneuverings and good mileage means i can stay in it as much as i want.
all day i was in city dined at restaurant .

fed her with rs.500ltr fuel and she returned me 16.8 in city with full ac at 22 degree c.

initially there was so much of concerns and nightmares when i bought it ;purchase wise and performance wise.
but now it is a delight . the so called infamous performance issues are only for those who just do the test drive for 15 or 30 minutes. and it is much obvious that it will under perform if expected like a regular diesel car.

there is a 1000 way of seating position possible in punto and even i havent found one perfect position for me. so i keep changing like an experiment .nonetheless i was never out of comfort or hurt but enjoyed it much.
today i tried with seat fully high steering full low and myself pulled bit near the wheel. which i found very good for in city responsive driving.

last week on a long drive, i pushed seat fully low, moved seat further from pedals, so i was like in a armchar position legs stretched and and head on head rest.enjoyed it thoroughly.
only thing which kept bothering me and everyone else was i might fall asleep in such a position.

I guess most of us never want to come out of our vehicles. Last week when i was home, i just parked my car outside my garage, pulled down the seats and enjoyed the warmth of the sunlight. I felt so cosy that i felt like sleeping inside[lol].

Thats a pretty awesome FE you got. As per ARAI test results, the Punto 90HP claims to have a FE of 20.XX kmpl.

thanks to instantaneous consumption in MID display. it responds in real time with the accelerator press . so harder i press lesser is fe. so i kept driving observing the same giving least minimum of effort to accelerator . though i was not much concerned in morning but by noon when i read the fe as 15kmpl i got much interested and pulled it upto 16.8 by evening. i think better figures can be achieved with same .

Will you put up any other sticker too?
it took us 3 hours to decide about sticker to be used and rightful place.

TAI sticker anywhere else looks like as if some showroom ad or some other kind of trivia which was more of a distraction .
present one is very catchy and sophisticated ,position wise and aesthetic wise.

but yes we are contemplating one for the front .

Congratulations! And I thought you were not a fan of that design.

Drive Safe,
350Z
yes you are right when i was placing order for sticker , i was just around 1000km with punto so i thought it will be more of sedate and economical ride.

but presently punto is about to clock 5000km and it is very much poking the enthusiast / racer in me.
yes,
my punto which was just special in beginning is becoming extraordinary now.

so in order to compliment with overall factor the best suited words which tickled my heart was "buckle up or go up" !!
