The Ecosport Discoveries contest page says:

'Explorers from each city will be given a Ford EcoSport car to be used for a three (3) week tour in their respective cities (hereinafter referred to as “Urban Discoveries Tour”) between midnight of May 13, 2013 and the midnight of June 03, 2013.'

Does that mean Ecosport will not be launched before June?

Anyways, friends keep voting for our entries in the contest (thread - http://www.theautomotiveindia.com/fo...ease-vote.html) so that some of us may get a chance to get a first-hand review.

Its been some time since the budget. Ford still hasn't come out with any dates. The testing seems to be going on and on. Its good that the product be tested well, before its released to the customer. But I have started getting doubts on whether ford has uncovered a major issue during testing and are unable to find a fix or the fix is taking time. I can understand if they are facing issues with Ecoboost, but ideally shouldn't be facing any issues with the 1.5 TDCi. Even if they are facing issues with ecoboost, why not launch the diesel? I know only ford can answer these questions. Does anyone have any insider information?

I think there must be a valid reason behind the delay. Definitely its not the budget, not the heavy localization or anything like that. IMO Ecosport has some serious issue(probably Ecoboost engine) here in Indian soil. May be its the fuel or the mileage related. Ford knows that there is a hype behind this engine and they want to showcase this during their launch. That is the reason why they are not launching diesel.
While Duster is milking all most all mini SUV buyers and there is already big list of min suvs in the list to come end of this year or next year. Looking at all the things happening I think Ecosport will be available only after June(if everything goes well). I am already lost my interest in waiting game, not that I want to buy one immediately. But officially there is nothing from Ford no tentative dates nothing. Since the dealers have no clue, makes me think there is some major reason that could be make or break for Ford.
But its good for customers though, as we don't want buy something and later realize that its under performing and no mileage and finally getting discontinued in a year or two. Hope maruti, honda, VW, Chevy and Nissan push their ideas faster and materialize a good practical crossover soon, that would be ideal. Today we don't have much options other than the pricey Duster!

First time I heard or saw anything about ecosport was in november 2012 when I decided to buy a car,at that time it was being speculated that the car would be launched in jan 2013.
I waited the whole diwali n december period even though all auto companies were offering great discounts and offers.I patiently waited. [frustration]

Then came the news the car would be in display in feb and sales will start from march.. (Localization issue)

Then we were told car is to be launched just after budget.(excise duty issue)

Even all dealers and sources of fellow TAI members confirmed a March launch.(remember 4th march) [shock]

Now my dealer says car would be on display in malls by end of march and in showrooms by mid april.
and the latest I have heard is june/july delivery period.(from a frnd's frnd who workd with ford in their figo marketing campaign. [cry]

I for one have complete lost any faith and hope I had. and I know people who have been waiting for much longer periods than me.. All the buzz will die down(if it hasnt already) in the coming weeks and ecosport will do a feista in case of sales for ford.
people have already moved on and started buying other cars.. N I feel ford has killed its baby even before its launch.

I called up the dealer Today(TI Ford, Tinsukia) and what I was informed is as follows:
-Ecosport launching this month.
-Internal news of the dealer: Vehicles are being dispatched from factory to Showrooms all over India(most probably display Vehicles)
-Price 7-10lakh
-TI Ford's technicians have not been called till date for Training on the Ecosport
-3 Engine options(2 Petrol and 1 Diesel)
Don't know how true are their statements as AFAIK technicians undergo Training on a particular vehicle before it being launched.
