I personally may buy any car in the market but would recommend a best friend to buy the best sellers only.

One thing is clear from this discussion. we have a prejudice towards home grown products.
I find no rationale behind this 'reliability' claims. Mahindra MHawk and TATAs 2.2 dicor engines are as reliable as Toyotas D4d engine, if not better. Mahindra Xylo and Sumo Grande are as comfortable as Innova.
AND yes, I've seen many brand new Innovas with their panels sticking out. And Quality, people talking about top draw quality of Innova, well please have a look at Innova base model (the one without PS).
The point I am making is, high sales number doesnt mean a good product and inverse is the same too. AN open minded look into the car market will show you good products which were market duds. Any one remember the Daewoo Matiz.

The sales figures do not come all of a sudden,It is people's reliability on the company and experience on the product that made it sell more.
Good cars of a reputed and reliable company always sells more.
It is easy and good and wise for a fresh buyer who has a Zero knowledge on cars to go behind the best sellers than taking risk on bad sellers.

The one sells has the better reputation and reliability in india.
If tata sells more then it will get the reputation too.

I am with innova because it meet all my needs and as it is the best seller i do not want to think thrice before buying an innova.

innova sales are around 6k per month for a long time.
scorpio around 4.5k per month.
now make the analysis.

That's the point sir, Fortuner and Innova cannot be compared as they are from different segment. And in it's segment Fortuner is have good sales.

Aria is compared to innova too.
Every big car is compared to innova because the other company's eyes are on sales figures of innova.
The fortuner innova comparison came on some back to back debates.

So as per your logic in c segment sedans maruti has not so good reputation since their car sells less then Tata , Hyundai , mahindra , Nissan .and Volkswagen and even skoda
Since you belive high sales means better reputation of company here is something for you to consider

Tata - manza - 2367
Mahindra - verito -1500
Nissan - sunny- 2456
Volkswagen - Vento -2024
Skoda - rapid- 1458
Maruti -sx4- 1012
And guess what as per your logic " more sale means better car " ambassador car has more reputation and it seems as per your logic its a better car then fiat linea ( same linea which comes with your fav fiat multijet engine )

That show the clear herd buying the Figo and ambassador and any body say that Ritz and Linea or useless cars with their sales numbers, if so, the there is no word to explain the same.

My friend who owns Figo who suggest again a Figo to some body because he owns a Figo and thinks it is a VFM car, but in open he accepts that Swift and Ritz are better cars than Figo
