Well in my case, the number of cars sold does matter to my car buying process, May not be for the actual car bought!
I think any one who has access to the info will and should definitely look in to the numbers as it will be your starting point in the car hunt. Generally these numbers will give the over all picture. I may not buy the car which is in the 'top of the list' but 'will not' buy the car which is 'Not in the list'(or some where close to the bottom most car in the list. Just imagine the Honda Jazz story, car was not selling inspite of good engine, space economy but now discontinued. I definitely don't want to drive the brand new discontinued car.
