Varun, tried any DIY in the floor mats? most of the people in these days here are changing their car floor to plastic type sheets(called 'button sheets). But when i enquired this to fix it in 800, the car accessory shop people told that it is not good for my 800, coz the floor for 800 is not flat and they are fixing this in top of company mat and that is already in peeled state in my car. The amount they are asking for this Rs.1500 for every car except nano(for nano it is Rs.2000[lol])

I will suggest you not to get this one for maruti 800. As our car's floor has multiple holes, many times water enters, also the wiring in our car passes on the floor. If you get this permanent mats you may not notice the water inside hence it may result rusting of the floor, also short circuit of the wires. It is also slippery.

Better use the woolen mat provided by the company and add rubber mats on them.

I had changed my car floor mats last week to the rubberized carpets which cost only Rs.650. I found this in some taxi vehicles and got it from the nearest rexine store. Bought 3 pieces, 2 for front right & left side and single piece between rear & front seat. This reduces dust in the cabin. I''ll share the photo tomorrow.Only problem felt, there is smell comes from it, since this is new and the car parking in hot conditions. Not sure whether this will go.

What is the material called?Where would it be available.
Sorry,I dont know the name of the material, but it can be available in all carpet /rexine shops. This material commonly used in offices/ taxi vehicles(innovas). Rate is Rs.50/sq ft here for the item i purchased. It is also available in different thickness. i tried to attach the pictures(sorry for the low clarity, taken in mobile)

Shibu@- one of my friend fixed the plastic sheet in Nano from the TASS here at RS.1850

In my car the middle part of floor (the exhaust pipe floor hump) gets pretty hot after driving for sometime, if that is same with you then wont the rubber smell increase? Did you buy the material & cut it yourself? Just curious :)

Sails unfurled ...
@releesh I to had seen this "jugad" in one of the cars during my visit to Kerala.
And the owner said it was Pretty good no complains. he was telling me it is more effective in retaining the soft sand than a regular car mat.

my car also gets hot in the area, but not that much too increase the smell and heat will reduce while we were on top gear more time. No the rexine shop done that.it is easy to cut using a paper cutting knife.

yes. i feel its good.it is really flexible, no smells now, even on wet conditions too(getting good rain here[;)] and it also stop the small dust particles flying in the car.
