Can you provide a link of the Ford website from where you decoded?
Here is the link :

Buddy, for a fast moving product like Ecosport, I don't know why your specific car had to be kept in factory for 2-3 months before its dispatch. It is a bit of concern for me. In terms of selling, in many cases, the dealers provide a Nov-December model in beginning of the new year. I would suggest you to carry out a proper PDI (pre-delivery Inspection) of the car and then negotiate for discounts based on build date of the car.

Regards

Akash
Thanks Akash, appreciate your reply. Unfortunately I am already in possession of the car and I had only decoded the VIN before delivery and it translated as Jan 2016, insurance and RC show 2016. Only when I checked in this Ford site later, it shows build date as Nov 2015. Vehicle looks fine, no issues found. However, this build date is causing a bit of concern. Dealer shows Ford invoice which shows vehicle dispatched on Feb 18th from factory. As you rightly said, I did check some VIN numbers of January cars mentioned in the forum that shows build date as Nov or Dec of previous year, but the VIN decoding will show next year Januray. Guess negotiating with the dealer is the only option now..? Thanks.

Please someone decode the Vin and share the manf year and month
VIN Majzxxmtkzgb39994
As per below Ford site, build date shows 08.11.2015 but VIN decoding shows Jan 2016.

I have a similar issue, my Ford ecopsort that I took delivery 4 days back is registered as 2016 but build date shows 12.11.2015. I am confused how this works out. Guess you should check with the dealer.

Thanks for sharing the link.

I was decoding based on the chart given in many online sources. But there was no surity. My apologies to those whose VINs I may have wrongly decoded. Built date for the recent 3-4 VINs I had decoded is in November 2015 only. Some cars like Aspire which are manufactured in Gujarat can take time to arrive at the dealership. But EcoSport is also made in Chennai (not sure) and a 1.5 month delay is not normal. If build date is alloted before VIN, and the car is dispatched after alloting the VIN, then there are no issues as the possibility of getting a 1 month old car is ruled out as most VINs I checked have a 1.5 month car in VIN and build date. Some one working in Ford car join in and clear this confusion.

If possible for you, please confirm with the dealer on how they decode the VINs and why the build date is 1.5 month prior to VIN date. Also confirm from which plant did they recieve your car.

NOTE : Since the Ford VIN Decoding chart has not come out as successful, and a website (MyCarHelpLine) has already declared that Ford cars (post 2013) don't follow any fixed codes, it is better for Ford owners to confirm their car details from the below website (shared by npalanisami).

EDIT - If the dealer recieves Nov-2015 cars in Jan-2016 only, then the car can be labelled as fresh because there is no possibility of recieved any newer manufactured cars in this case. One option is to visit Ford dealership, talk to your SA and ask him to show VINs of the recent batch that they have recieved. If the build date is in Nov-2015 or similar, then this is normal for all Ford cars to take 1.5 month to be sent to the dealers. Otherwise there is some problem.

As Akash and others have suggested do a through PDI, 2 specific product mfr dates/week/year I do check is the tyres and the battery.

FOR TYRES : 45/15 (MEANS 45TH WEEK OF YEAR 2015)
FOR BATTERY : LIKEWISE I SUPPOSE, NOT VERY SURE

Guess VIN decoding may still hold good as far as RTO registration is concerned. As per the information I was given, RTO uses the VIN decoding to determine the registration year and month. Not sure though...

I read online that Form 22 also has car manufacturing date/period. Did you check that?
I have asked for a copy of it from the dealer. They said it was submitted to RTO, but they will try to get the copy. But from online images available for Form 22, there is no month/year on that. But it seems Form 21 has this info. I will ask the dealer for Form 21 as well.

Thanks. I checked the tyres (Good Year) and it says 43/2015. That is around October 20, 2015. So I am wondering what the car was doing in factory until Feb 18th [surprise]. So it is more than 3 months from build date (12.11.2015).

Re: New Ford Figo Trend (Diesel): Ownership Review

Thanks a lot man. Can you give me the VIN details as well or where can I find it?
Read throgh the previous posts. There is a confusion regarding Ford vehicle decoding. As per decoding chart, the manufacturing period comes out to be Jan 2016 but when check in Ford website, it shows 1.5 months prior build date. You can check in the below link, all vehicle details will be available here.

https://www.etis.ford.com/vehicleRegSelector.do

If possible, ask your SA the reason for this delay (build date and manufacturing period) in both the methods.

Hi,

Faced similar issue, thanks for the thumbs up before I purchase the car.
According to VIN decoding my car was Jan 2016 model , but FORD website mentioned as Nov 2015

I raised this with the dealer , who sweared that vehicle arrived their yard this month only..

I contacted Ford customer care , who also verified its 2016 make..He also added that the site may be displaying wrong date..

However I am going to do a proper PDI before I purchase.[:)]

Re: Decoding Vehicle Information Number (VIN)

Ford India Month/ Year decoding chart From 2005 - 2012. Please note that the month codes repeats after every 4 years.

Typical FORD Car VIN has 17 Characters starting from MAJ in which 11th and 12th characters represents YEAR and MONTH respectively.

The Build date represents the actual manufacturing date.

e.g: VIN: MAJ1XXMRJ1BC82954 in which 11th and 12th characters are Year and Month, so as per the chart its a 2011, January vehicle which manufactured on 14.12.2010. So in the RC book its will be mentioned as January 2011 manufactured vehicle.
I have booked a new figo. Please help me decode my VIN. The month code for 2016 is not given in your pic.
My VIN: MAJGXXMTKGGB57805
Thanks in advance
