@Pshar30 and others:
In case of Ford cars, the tool normally used is Ford ETIS which can be found here:
https://www.etis.ford.com/vehicleRegSelector.do;jsessionid=BD6D941729B50772A859DD85F20F9153.fcvas506

Now the point to be noted is that ETIS will give the date of final assembly while the VIN number manual decoding gives the month of chassis stamping. So in Ford cars, to avoid any confusion it is better to follow the date that is given by the ETIS because in case of slow moving products, it is possible that the chassis stamping and vehicle assembly date can be even up to 1 month away from each other.

Under the vehicle name is body type which states '4 door saloon' which means it is the saloon version of the Figo/Ka+; hence no worries.

Figo 2015/ Ka+ 2016 basically means that it's the 2015 version of Figo and 2016 version of Ka+, ETIS is international and it will cover all the aspects. Now it was launched as Figo in India in 2015, maybe launched as Ka+ somewhere else in 2016, I hope the situation is clear now.

Dealer has given me below VIN number for newly booked Maruti Alto K10:

MA3EZDE1S00305635

Is above VIN correct and what is says?
Hello Nairrk

There would be two more digits at the end. Ask your SA to open the bonnet and search near the driver side (where the driver side wiper stem originates) for the 19 digit VIN engraved on metal.

Those last two digits would give you the manufacturing month and year.

Regards,
Alpha

My wife is purchasing an elite i20. I saw the vehicle and noted the vin with the extra 2 digits from the chassis.
MALBM51RLGM 313389*K.
I believe its 2016 October made. The battery has a sticker with October date.
Please share any other details that can be extracted from the above data.

Planning to take delivery the coming week and my thanks in advance for the vin data if any.

Hello PANACHE

10th digit = G = 2016
19th digit = K = October

You can also check manfacture date of tyres. It will be a 4 digit code, like "0216" which means 2nd week of 2016.

Congrats!

Thank you alpha. The dealer seemed very coperative and my casual pdi is ok.
The tyres are goodyear r16. I have seen pdf files which contains the variant details detailed and even the production date. Any link to such data will be appreciated

No, I think it is available for Ford only, given in Post # 1456 of this thread.

However, you can check this link. It is not 100% accurate but gives a fair bit of general information (not date of manufacture though).

https://en.m.wikibooks.org/wiki/Vehicle_Identification_Numbers_(VIN_codes)/Hyundai/VIN_Codes

EDIT - Ok, let me decode it through that link (free time, you know).

M - Asia, India
A - Hyundai Motor India
L - Light Motor Vehicle, Car
B - Getz (?)
M - 4 door sedan (?)
5 - 5 Door Hatchback, Body Type
1 - Active 3 point Seatbelt
R - (Engine, no data)
L - (Check digit, no data)
G - 2016 (Mfg. year)
M - Chennai, India (Mfg. plant)
313389 - Vehicle serial number
*K - October (Mfg. month)

Alpha

Hello PANACHE

Even I have read through that post in Team BHP Forum. But the member there has confirmed that the site was temporarily free.

Here is a link to the post (#1839) as well as site -

Thanks alpha , I registered and accessed a lot of information, but a little different in format from what i gave above.

The pertinent being the production date. 15-10-2016. The dealer told that the same left the plant on Oct 30.

I am planning to take delivery only on sat Dec 3

Glad that it was of use. Was the information totally free? If yes, I will check for my Grand i10 also. Haven't even bothered to check the manufacturing month and year yet. [:)]
