7 months is a long time for any car to be in stockyard but then he can do nothing now.

My bil bought a BMW in November its vin indicates it was made in april is that reasonable.

I don't think anything will be grossly wrong with the vehicle. What you should ensure is to do proper PDI.
You should ask dealer how the car is stored ? Open shade or closed godown?
Where was it kept during rainy season?
Ask for a thorough PDI.

You can't change the car but you can ensure that if there are any issues that can be sorted before registration.

If you find any issues at least it will help you get some more discounts from dealer

@hobeezz The dealer is fooling you.If you are going ahead and buying the vehicle go with a mechanic and check for any water seepage inside the vehicle .It is very difficult to see with a normal eye.Check inside the weather strips and below the mats.Since Kerala being a coastal country the longer stocking time may increase the chance of corrosion.And definitely ask for a better discount.

Just a quick update. Dealer gave an additional discount of 30K and they virtually pushed my friend on that. Sadly I couldnt stop him from that . He is not a vehicle enthusiast, just fell for the 30k offer.

This dealership (EVM Motors, Perumbavoor) was started just three months back and I dont know how they got this car older than the dealership itself.

So, anyone planning to buy from EVM motors better be careful (they deal both Nissan and VW). My experience (Polo from EVM Kottayam) was also not that good with EVM.

I got that too from the instruction. No, by the 17 digit one can get the accurate production date, check other forum by the name of “Wildon” this is the guys profile name in every forum. May be he has subscription base database.

Myth Busted! I got it. Mine is 31st Jul 2013. The production date is given at the top of this barcode label and its starts from the 2nd digit.

Thanks a lot Soumen.sam. I easily cracked my cars date of manufacture with the help of your post. I eventually got a 1.6 Sx(O) VTVT verna myself yesterday - 24th December 2013. Looks like it was manufactured on 15th December 2013 which am totally happy about.!

Congrats on your purchase. And good way to decode Hyundai VIN (Date of Manufacture). But isn't the gap too short between manufacture and delivery

Thanks Anshuman8. I previously had a Suzuki Swift Zxi(2011) which i got after a long hassle. Also the previous year, i bought my dad a Hyundai Santro GL Plus(2012). I loved the fact that it was a factory fresh stock.

And yes i did check with the dealer and requested that i need a fresh new stock and nothing else. Since am in chennai, i guess i do have an advantage!

Exact date of manufacture is not mentioned as in other people's cases. Is it different for different companies?
