Friends, I need a quick help. My friend has booked a sunny. Dealer gave him a vin - MDHBDAN17D2030791. This is a Feb-13 manufactured vehicle which is very old. The dealer is saying this is a fresh stock and even the latest model Terranos they have in their yard are april/ may manufactured.

To me it feels like the dealer is trying to make a run.

Is Nissan shipping such old vehicles from their factory?

Am i correct in reading the 10th and 11th letters in vin as manufacturing year and month?

Yes, I had tried your link earlier, couldnt find any data. But from what others has told, 10th and 11th digits shows the month and year. Dealer also agreed that it is a feb/13 vehicle.

Car was inspected. It is showing all signs of 10 months worth of weathering. Now it is up to us to decide to go with it or not. Will go to their yard and check all cars to see if any newer ones are available.

Thanks for your Reply

Please get the full 17 digit or 19 digit VIN (full chassis no) and get it decoded here.
I know that we should have 17or 19 digit no. But the dealer is acting smart and gave these number. I called up chervolet customer care as well and even they can not give me the VIN no from these numbers.
I will contact the dealer again

Thanks for your reply

@hobeezz The dealer is fooling you.If you are going ahead and buying the vehicle go with a mechanic and check for any water seepage inside the vehicle .It is very difficult to see with a normal eye.Check inside the weather strips and below the mats.Since Kerala being a coastal country the longer stocking time may increase the chance of corrosion. And definitely ask for a better discount.

Thanks guys,

Now the VIN no given by dealer is MH6SFBL2DDT024278
Now what i know is Chervolet VIN starts with MA6... . I tried to decode it but not working.

Can anybody decode it or confirm that this is wrong VIN no so that I an take dealer's case

One more thing if I see the 9th and 10th character it is DD...does it mean it is April 2013 car. (As 9th digit denotes month and 10th denotes year)
Please correct if I am wrong

Thanks in advance

Assuming that the H is incorrect in the VIN given by you and taking A in place of that, i.e. taking VIN as MA6SFBL2DDT024278, it is a car manufactured in November 2013 at Talegaon plant of Chevy. This information is based on the information given by Vehice History and Vin /Chasis Number check My Vehicle Details
