Re: Buying a Dashboard Camera – Advice & Discussions

I got a generic one from ebay about a couple of months back.
The system has recording facilities for both front and rear. Though its a basic system and the front is 1.2 megapixel (VGA rear), it does its work fine. One problem I am facing is too much glare during night drives from other traffic.
The price was Rs.3500 and installation was DIY.

Re: Buying a Dashboard Camera – Advice & Discussions

Anyone who has hardwired their dashcam? Can it be done from power source coming from the reading light near mirror? Else i would prefer routing it from OB port like in this plug and play kit. Don't wanna route from ciggy lighter port. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Con...32d3-484a-9a68-8baf7d2a4772&priceBeautifyAB=0

Also any suggestion for a cam ? I want one without any battery as gurgaon is very hot and i dont need a screen or wifi as i am okay unplugging the card to view if required. Should also be glare friendly as most roads here are undivided with people happily on hi beams always. Budget preferably under 5k

Viofo A119S might suit your needs and is currently on sale for 6K on banggood (link below).

I think reading light or dome light will be switched power source so it won't help. You have to use power source from fuse box (accessory fuse) using fuse tap and hardwire adapter.

Once you get a dashcam, start using it with provided cigar lighter adapter then move to hardwire. You can find installation instructions from my thread as well as Prabhagar's post.

A118 and A119 uses capacitor instead of battery. A119S with GPS costs 5k on Banggood Promo Sale today. Prabhagar has got same dashcam and I have also ordered one yesterday.

A119 Pro is latest and it uses 5mp sensor (Where as A119S uses 2.13MP Sony sensor) but it costs 7k without GPS and 7.6k with GPS mount.

Yes, class 10 memory card should work on dashcam. Are you sure the card is working fine on pc or smart phone? Sometimes filesystem of the card may be different then supported. So try formatting the memory on dashcam itself and it should work. If the memory card has data, make sure to backup.

Note: Incase the card is corrupted, the dashcam will not record on it.

Yes, it was brand new Card which I first checked on Laptop and found it was working. Then, I inserted into the Dashcam but was not recorded anything. Formatted the card on Dashcam, still not working.

So, now I need to buy class 10 memory card - by the way, which one you recommend, Sandisk or Samsung or any other better brand (not very expensive ones)?

Hmm, thats strange.

Before buying new card, I'd suggest to trying another card of any size to make sure there is no problem with the dashcam itself.

As of brand, I'd suggest Sandisk first but Strontium is also good. I have their 32gb memory card + card reader working fine since more then a year. Here is the review.

However, my friend Prabhagar also has Strontium but he has claimed replacement twice. Due to frequent read/write on dashcam and high temperature, memory card may fail.

Note: There are huge fake memory cards in market so make sure to buy from reputed/trusted seller only, i.e Amazon fulfilled sellers like Appario Retail Private Ltd, Cloudtail India or etc.

Re: Buying a Dashboard Camera – Advice & Discussions

Thanks dear.

Seen your review - helpful (that one was also a class 10 memory card)

Before trying the new 32GB class 4 card, I tried 8GB card which I was using on my mobile but that too was not recording. Then I spoke to the accessory guy in Tata dealer who told me that I need to try the class 10 card as others are of low speed card which may not be able to record since we are recording a fast moving scenery.[roll]
