OLA & UBER temporarily suspend shared ride services.

New Delhi: Ride-hailing platforms Ola and Uber have suspended shared rides temporarily in an effort to curb spread of coronavirus that has killed over 10,000 persons so far globally.

"In our efforts to curb the spread of COVID-19, we are temporarily suspending the ''Ola Share'' category until further notice," Ola said in a statement on Friday.

"We are determined to help reduce the spread of coronavirus in the cities we serve. With that in mind, we are suspending the Uber Pool service across India," an Uber spokesperson said.

Update

A New Case of Covid-19 came up today in Noida Sector 74. The Housing society where the Covid-19 patient was found has been locked down.

Noida's Supertech Cape Town society has gone into lockdown after another positive case of coronavirus was reported from the society. As per reports, the Noida District Magistrate has asked for a sealing of the society till March 23. The person stays in Supertech Capetown in Noida Sector 74 and the district administration has announced a lockdown of the residential society, which has thousands of residents, from 10 am Saturday till 7 am on Monday for sanitisation, the officials said. "During this period nobody would be allowed to get in or go out of society except only in very essential cases. Everybody is requested to stay indoors," District Magistrate B N Singh stated in an order.

Any news about Karnataka. Saw on the web that Karnataka has banned entry of private vehicles from Maharashtra. Is this true ? Any Government website where this can be checked ?

I was scheduled to drive to Bangalore tomorrow from Mumbai

Public Bus services has been stopped at the border of Karnataka/Tamil Nadu/Kerala, but heard that private cars are being allowed after proper/strict check-up. Since Karnataka has closed the border from Kerala, it may be possible that they may have done the same thing from other sides also.

Will report here, if I find any further news.

Updates: India registered a steep rise in the number of positive cases of COVID-19 on Saturday, taking the total to 315 in the country. A total of 16,911 samples from 16,021 individuals were tested for SARS-CoV2as as on March 21, 6 PM. Meanwhile, Maharashtra continues to be the most affected states from coronavirus, while Uttar Pradesh and Delhi are still witnessing an increase in the number of confirmed cases.
