BharatBenz reveals 'Made in India' truck.

The truck has been developed at BharatBenz’s new plant at Oragadam, near Chennai. The plant is 88% ready and will be inaugurated on April 18, 2012.

To ensure high reliability of the vehicles from the start, all the trucks have undergone 40 lakh kilometres of testing on Indian roads including strenuous driving cycles on DICV’s state-of-the-art test track in Tamil Nadu. To keep costs in check, DICV has partnered with more than 450 suppliers in the Indian market. An 85% localization level has been achieved and BharatBenz has set a target to take that number to 90%. BharatBenz has already brought on board dealerships in 70 locations across India and the plan is to expand the sales and service network to cover 100 locations by 2014.

The trucks promise to offer excellent return on investment as they have been designed to lower turn around time and have a direct impact on a fleet’s efficiency.

The ultra range and the LPT 3723 will create new segments and generate higher incomes for their owners," Tata Motors (India Operations) Managing Director P M Telang told reporters.

Tata Ultra truck range comprises a series of variants with 5 to 14-tonne capacity and powered by 16-valve diesel engines.

The Tata LPT 3723 is a 5-axle truck with a payload of 25 tonnes.

Re: Upcoming Commercial Vehicles in India

And how Tata replied to this bus??
Any such new launch by Volvo??

Do these buses have front disk brakes as I have noticed that there is something like a disc behind the front wheels of these buses and its easily noticeable if your car is moving just adjacent to the front wheel of the bus.

This new Tata truck is looking weird, now what is that rising wheel at the end for,our intello drivers will use it as spare wheel instead of dropping/rising set of wheels!!

The company rolled out its Starbus Fuel Cell Concept, which it developed with Indian government’s Department and Industrial Research under the Technology Development & Demonstration Programme.

This bus, which uses compressed hydrogen, features a motor that provides peak power output of 250 hp. It has a top speed of 43.5 mph, which may not seem like much, but as it is designed for city traffic, it is undoubtedly more than sufficient.

Yes right Volvo has Disc brakes at front!

The last set of wheels will be functional when the load is very bulky and when the truck needs to be planted.
