@sethumurugan: Going by your replies, I don't think the problem is simple. Let the Chevy guys do their job and see if at all anything improves. Meanwhile, please measure FE as per the full tank to full tank method and keep the petrol bunk the same. For the next FE measuring cycle, use the same method but change the petrol bunk.See if this makes a difference.

I will be keeping an eye on this thread till the time you tell me that your Spark is finally giving you at least 14 kmpl in Madras traffic.

Meanwhile, give a call to the service centre and tell them to check if the brakes (both front and rear) are binding.

Chayan, I did not have pollution report with me. I will get one by this weekend and post it here. BTW, should I have to get two certificates respectively for LPG and Petrol separately or one is enough?
One should be enough, preferably the one with the engine running on Petrol.

Thanks Sam. btw, full tank to full tank method means neck to neck right?

Re: Velvet Sparky - Review After 10,000 Kms on Odometer

I filled nearly 42.42 liters of petrol today. Upto the neck. [;)] Let me check the same after 100 KMs. The manual says capacity is 38 liters. am sure already minimum of 5 to 8 liters of petrol should have been there. So now totally around 47 to 50 liters of petrol are there in my sparky. How it is possible against 38 liters.

I don't know, how it is possible [confused]

Most of the time, to fill my Vista's 38Litres Diesel tank will cost around 1,600-1,800Bucks. But filling Petrol for 42.42 liters will cost above 3000bucks[surprise]. It will definitely make pain in our heart[frustration] and that too with less mileage. I can feel the pain of your heart Sethu sir :(

Sethu Sir change the bunk! anyways a few extra litres of fuel can always go in a car depending if it has any reserve built in to by design or the pipes etc, but 12 litres extra for a small car as Spark sounds ridiculous. ( Also please check if you have leaks or petrol evaporation somewhere, petrol can evaporate pretty quickly unlike diesel )

I suggest you start a fresh diagnosis now(since work has been apparently done by your chevy guys ) - From the next tankful go to a CoCo and fill up and do this for atleast 2 cycles and report back your findings.

Also no need to fill up the brim till the neck , you can do it till the nozzle auto cuts off, if you keep doing this at the same pump and same nozzle, minor discrepancies will average out itself.

Yes, I agree. Extra 12 lts is like having another mini tank in the car. Also may part answer your issues with FE..may be the pump has been looting you all along.

Even the same thing had happens earlier with other fuel station also. Okie next time let me check with a fuel station which is owned by BP near anna nagar, chennai [Actually I wanted to go there only yesterday. But it took lot of time for us in koyambedu vegetable market which we decided to go before going for anna nagar, so I have gone to regular fuel station]

Do you use the auto cutoff system or let the attendent push out the fuel pipe out a bit and drain more petrol inside, which system do you use most of the times?
Also please avoid that fuel station which you shared few posts above where you refilled your car.

Re: Velvet Sparky - Review After 10,000 Kms on Odometer

From my experience, the petrol tank of Spark can hold max 43 lits of fuel. Actal tank capacity is 43 lits approx. Here, 38 lits usable volume and remaining approx 5 lits vapour head space. the filler pipe may accommodate another 1 lit or so. So 50 lits of fuel in a Spark is impossible. Please refer to the diagram.

Car manufacturers refers the usable volume as Tank Capacity.
