No complaints ever heard about them! But i have heard in the past that they mix some additives which can have mixed results according to my friend whose aunt who use to work for some lab or department. But i think he was making things up.
Lately noticed they are not maintaining tire the air pressure machine as they are giving in accurate readings. (Near double road)

As for other pumps if machine is tampered then owner will be in on it, if it is other cheating methods then the attendants will be running the scam.

If i ever own a petrol pump! I would put my business number in bold on a board so customers can call me directly in case of suspicion or malpractice.
And would install HD recording cameras which are aimed at the machines to record digits & cash transaction.
If such a responsible pump exists people will flock to it no doubt.

What do you guys say ?[glasses]

Well in that case my dear friend, you may never be able to start a petrol pump. In india where if you have to run business, you need to pay for the so called "safety money" to either the goons or to police or both. A small thelewala in Hyd pays anything between 50-500 per day (depending on what they sell) to police. Now if you are running a petrol bunk imagine who all would come for thier cut. Police, Corporators, Goons, then you would also have inspectors and other civic officials making a beeline. To satisfy these you will need to have some additional earning so that you dont loose on your earning, you may have to resort to these activities.

Knowing the Bangalore people, this idea will flop as you will have to keep the phone switched off. They will call you for selling flats and layouts.[lol].If not there are insurance companies and NGOs to extract money from you. Anyway good luck with the good thoughts.

The Indian Oil pump near Vazhayila, Trivandrum is the best I have seen till date. They have CC TVs installed, and never witnessed any malpractice till now.
They even give free news papers every morning. :)
That is really nice to know! I have been given free magazines when we fill above certain amount & newspapers like what you said are during election times or if anyone from pump has put an ad. So i am not able to figure the newspaper thing yet.
And CCtv is a good idea no doubt,A cafe i frequent has alot of college students who sit for hours & order things over time,So when billed they claim they dint order the item or any issue, the manager checks on the cctv cam.
I was in a position to own my own pump 2 years back but parents backed out as they felt not a business for us,but during that time i had decided on these measures of honesty to keep a steady flow of happy loyal customers.

Hi,
Any recommended pumps other than Ashram BP pump in Pondicherry. Its location deep inside Pondicherry, makes it difficult for me to go there each and every time from cuddalore. A brief search on Indian Oil website lists around 2 COCO Pumps on NH45A (Cuddalore-Pondy ECR) in Ariyankuppam. Any petrol heads here frequent the COCO Indian Pump near Boat house Ariyankuppam, Pondicherry? The other COCO is under care of Pondy government (in Ariyankuppam, Pondicherry). I just made only a single tank full from this pump and they give proper fuel bill if insisted (the computer bill from the pump, not the hand written ones which the other stations provide if asked). Any suggestions from you guys.

A list of recommended (reliable) fuel stations in Pondicherry region is a welcome.

Shell In Bangalore is almost Re.1 per litre more than PSU Bunks for Petrol. Whereas in Diesel , they are cheaper than PSU bunks by 30 paise. Are we paying for our Loyalty ?
The quality of fuel is better than other company. In addition to that, you have peace of mind that you will not by cheated by Shell on any given day.

I guess we are starting to believe in myth about quality fuel we are getting from Shell, because I don't reckon getting higher FE figures in my car when I made two full tanks in Shell bunk(different locations) which gave me the same figures as the normal HP bunk in which I usually fill.

After-all, cars these days have fuel filter which is been kept for the very same reason to minimize the damage to engine.

OK This happened to a friend at a Shell pump and I have experienced it too. This is not to do with fuel quality but the "other services" that Shell outlets provide.

The guy who fills the tyre air pressure sets the target air pressure and then just bends to play around a little bit near the tyre for a few seconds & then repeats the same for the other three tyres and then looks up to you for his tip. You pay him and leave thinking he has ensured the right pressure in your tyre but he has not. Why? Well he might just be tired doing it over & over again for so many cars which all prefer "shell quality" these days or just frustrated that he has been assigned the lowly job compared to refuelling. Now this thing might sound funny to many over a trivial issue of air pressure but in this case it caused the tyre to go flat on the highway in the middle of nowhere & could have caused a serious accident too. Of course the tyre got damaged and had to be replaced which is a big cost compared/due to simple neglect.

Next time anyone fills air at Shell or any pump keep a close eye on the air pump operator & the pump meter as well. Get off the vehicle to check if necessary.

Its always better to check the tyre pressure on the pump meter. Not only to ensure correct pressure is filled, but also to look out for excessive loss in tyre pressure which may indicate leaks.

Recently in a petrol bunk in bengaluru, they tried to fool me around.

What happened there and how I came out from there goes like this:

I went into petrol bunk and stood in queue in line behind 2 more guys. Once i got my turn, he asked me for how much? I loudly and in crystal clear voice told him for 500/-. He heard it, turned to the machine set something, and started filling. It just stopped at 100/- bucks and I laughed and told him agin that I wanted for 500/- . meanwhile another person, the money collector of that bunk, came on the other side started talking to me, and the guy who was filling intelligently filled fuel and on the machine the reading showed 500/-.

Now, the actual cheating part:
They started arguing with me that he filled 100/- first and then later 500/- by zeroing it. I loudly yelled at him for 3 times and told him kannada that you didnot reset it to 0 and first you filled for 100 and now you continued for another 400 and the total is 500/-. Handed 500 note to them and drove away from there.

Guys, these petrol bunk guys are also, improving on new tactics day by day. So be alert and very careful in there while filling.
