More analysis:

Chevrolet sold a healthy 8189 units thanks to Beat diesel.Volkswagen sold 5789 units in january.Nissan saw its best month in India by far.It sold 5168 cars last month with only scanty dealer network and basically two sellable car.Micra sold 1855 units while its elder sibling Sunny sold an astounding 3218 units-- highly commendable. Its quite clear that a frugal diesel engine combined with sumptuous space is really working for this CAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR...... . Now it brings me to a very special car which will definitely put a smile on a particular forum member's face.Pehchan Kaun?Guys Nissan finally sold 2 units of 370 Z, yeah!!

Hold your breath as THE X-OVER will bring more

Skoda sold 3083 cars in jan 2012 thanks to Rapid which sold 1513 units while the Fabia languished at a mere 963 units dealer dispatch.

Aah now the sweet part , Fiat sold for the first time in many months more than 2000 cars. Punto sold 1600 units while Linea 501 units.Lets see whether the Italian giant sustains this growth in future or not!! Lets hope it does.[:)]

Honda , honda , honda what has happened "From King to Pauper" within months[cry].It sold scanty 1784 cars last month.Hell Brio and Jazz could not open their account last month.Time for Honda diesel me thinks.

And to end it all HM sold 266 cars while Renault sold 139 cars last month.

Conclusion: In a nutshell awesome month for Indian auto Industry, with Tata overtaking Hyundai being the main limelight.

Maybe they wouldn't have to shell out more if they waited. For they could see the inflation period
Attraction of purchasing in New Year, perhaps?

Even the auto ads in news paper which carried "Price hike in Jan" would be the reason.

I'm surprised that Punto and Innova shot up like anything.
The reason behind both of them to come up is, Punto was a little less than VFM and gained sales because of the waiting period of Swift ZDI.
Similarly Innova won people's heart because of the waiting period of XUV 500.

Dear Xover
Despite all things right with TATA-my main issue remains its after sales service-a common sentiment among Tata owners.
Given the petrol-diesel price diff Tata should be killing the competition with the Indica/ Vista and even the Venture/Magic/Magic IRIS
My question-Is poor ASS the only reason for the relatively poor numbers?

Dear tdcarlover,

This question of yours is completely off topic. But still since you asked let me try to give you an appropriate answer.TASS is definitely not great but is it really that bad as people conceive it to be.If its really bad then how come TaMo become no. 2 car manufacturer of India. As I said they are not perfect but they are improving by the hour.We need to be little patient with Tata,Mahindra,Bajaj etc. and give them some time to prove, who knows in future they become benchmark in Sales and service( touchwood) and make our Great Nation INDIA more proud.

Ford are sold impressive 9137 units last month.Fiesta ( new+classic) sold 1411 units, while Figo sold impressive 7508 units.Endeavour sold a respectable 218 units.
Major chunk of Fiesta’s sales are comprised from Classic. Ford must look into New Fiesta for possible price revision. Endeavour sales figures are decent. I saw two of them selling in front of me when I was dealing for Fiesta.

You are partially correct maybe. Can’t expect much from 370Z in terms of sales in India. It’s purely an enthusiast’s car but those who look out for one in the segment consider premium brand image as well vis-à-vis Audi, BMW, Porsche.

Today I saw the car sales figures of January in another site and surprised to note that Manza has overtaken Swift Dezire for the first time.

Can somebody confirm this

Tata don't release sales figure of Manza independently, Manza's sales figure is clubbed with that of e-CS.So its not Manza which overtook Dzire but Indigo brand which did so.Same is the case with V2 and Vista.
