Let The Xover summarize december 2011 sales figure:

Maruti at 77,000 is down from last year yet its position in India looks completely untouchable.

Hyundai at 29,000 odds is also holding on to its no 2 spot but only slightly, as Tata at around 29,000 are breathing at its neck.BTW what has happened to EON , why it is not outselling Alto, last time the xover checked he found out that EON was a heck of a car especially compared to bare basic Alto.

Tata generally have a bad month in december, but not this time, they clocked 28,916, only 600 odd less than Hyundai.Sumo Gold at 3000 odd was also impressive can it take the fight to Bolero, well only time will tell.Aria at 244 units was disappointing to say the least, but according to rumors tata received more bookings in the latter half of december, so perhaps January will give us a correct idea about Aria's sales future.

In the meantime Fiat , the makers of gorgeous Italian cars like Linea/Punto sold a meager 500 units, will the history repeat itself, will fiat once again leave India, well lets hope not!

Honda is cleary suffering from Thailand floods while toyota is having a hey day with Etios sisters getting popularity by the day.

Mahindra looks like the most promising auto maker at the moment, everything they touch turns into gold,IMO.

Who buys a car with less features and priced more than an basic alto?
And moreover Alto is and will be entry level car for everyone.

I think its the first time when Innova has crossed the 6000 mark.
About Corolla Altis, hmm it has emerged as the new segment ruler,I am sure most of the sales are of D-4D instead of VVT-i as a lot of them can be seen on the roads now a days.

Wow Nano's sales figures are surprising , no wonder i see so many Nano's on road now. I think Altis is slowly pushing Cruze down after the initial hype it got. Will be interesting to see the separate sales figures of TATA'S MUV'S.

Oh my shocking to see the sales figures of Captiva. It's an extremely good and capable vehicle not accepted by the Indian market. Looks like Cruze is going down the ladder slowly.

Etios sales have come down compared to December figures. Sunny Diesel has probably started taking away some of the Etios sales.

Oh yeah baby now its the time, the time for THE X-OVER to summarise Jan 2012 car sales figure.Lets start then shall we:

1. Maruti:

Indias's numero uno car company Maruti Suzuki with Alto yet again topping the sales chart at 32965 units and followed by Wagon R at 14888 really tells you the domination of Suzuki in A segment.Swift sisters sold close to 27,000 units combined , really unstoppable.Other cars also sold reasonably well. But with new Dezire CS launched and Ertiga waiting in the pipeline, Maruti will go from strength to strength.

2. TATA:

With total 34,669 cars dispatched to the dealer Tata Nano sold respectable 7723 units in January, while Indica twins sold mighty 11,534 units.Indigo brothers also did quite well as they managed to sell 9,272 units. Now comes the interesting part, how did tata UVs fared in January? Well Sumo (Gold) sold 3453 units 200 odd better than before.Safari sold 1392 units, Venture sold 798 units and now the final tata car Tata Aria , yes it sold 497 units with discounts et al.[:)]

3. HYUNDAI:

Hyundai sold 33,900 units to be precise and perhaps will regain their position anytime from tata. But really we auto enthusiasts are enjoying this see-saw battle between these two Auto giants.

Ohters will follow soon, till then watch out.[;)]

Mahindra sold 9338 Boleros,4309 Scorpios,1529 Verito, while Xylo sold a meagre 1863 units.XUV500 registers strong figure of 2286 units in the last month.Really M&M have found the right combination of pricing , positioning and designing, that's why they have the Indian masses at their palm.Note that Mahindra sold these 19 325 vehicles even though they don't have any offering in the entry A or B segments.Just imagine what they will achieve once Mini Xylo and S101 is launched. Perhaps we are looking at no. 2 car company of India in future.

Toyota with 17395 cars sold in Jan 2012.Etois sisters clocking impressive 10,000 approx. units while Fortuner and Corolla lead their pack with around 1000 units each. But surprise o surprise Innova sold 6749 units lastr month, truly amazing, more so now with XUV breathing on its neck.

Ford are sold impressive 9137 units last month.Fiesta ( new+classic) sold 1411 units, while Figo sold impressive 7508 units.Endeavour sold a respectable 218 units.

More to come later..

Tata Aria = 497
I got one from this pie

truly a very good comparo
now lets see, Auto companies are under a lot of pressure to increase the prices, therefore no one knows what will happen in the month of Feb for all the companies.
especially Tata (as they are still offering the old lot and also taking bookings for new lot) without increasing the amount on cars.

Hope Aria will do atleast 400 cars per month so that i can see her more often on road.
or
people will look at mine [lol]

both ways iam happy...
