Thanks @Rahul, sorry did not update this thread for a long time. I got the Jupiter's 5th paid service, and changed the engine oil and filter, it was about 3.4k km.

Michelin tyres should be better than the TVS oem, do update us about the ride after the change.

Regards
Vinod
Sure. Even I think Michelin would be better than TVS. Tvs tyres tend to loose grip in wet conditions. Tyres wearing out in 15k kms/ 16 months came as a shock. I was expecting it to run at least 25k kms as ride sedately and mostly on good roads.

Hi Friends,

i have booked New Jupiter on 19th Oct, in Chennai, through Paytm Mall..!

i booked 10 flight tickets & saved 6k and 2.5k by booking Jupiter through Paytm, thereby getting benefits of Rs.8500 while buying New Jupiter.

Those who are trying to Buy during Diwali Sale (Sorry for Very Late Info), can Use the Paytm Offer, in which you get cashback for Various Scooters. Do check with the respective dealer for the offer, before booking through paytm.

am not in anyways promoting Paytm, but adding this info, for the benefit of friends to get more monetary benefits, if anybody are buying New Scooters immediately.

Thanks,
Coolpix

My Jupiter has completed 4900km and 27 months of use, winters have set in, morning starts are a problem, so kick starting, however rest of the day till the scooter is used, no issues of self start.

My question, is it time to change the battery? (I gave it for service to my FNG, he changed the oil, cleaned the air filter which was very dirty, and topped up the battery water, which was very low).

Which make of battery should I buy? your views would be appreciated.

Its only 2+ years old, hardly being used, I'm giving the battery for charging today, and then see if it works.
Low use is No.1 Killer of Batteries. Sitting causes plate sulpation. Charing helps short term only. Now a days sealed AGM batteries are available that take sitting a little better.

I own a 10 month old Jupiter which has covered 1800 kms. In terms of ride quality, Jupiter feels even better than my motorcycle( Honda Unicorn). My only concern with Jupiter is the low fuel efficiency. From whatever reviews i read online, everyone seems to be getting more than 50 kmpl in City however in my case, it hardly gives between 38-40 kmpl in spite of using the scooter on traffic free roads. I maintain speeds between 60-65 kmph and travel with a pillion 95% of the time.

38-40 is a healthy average with pillion, I get between 36-38, I drive about 10km in a day.

Do check your type pressure, and air filter if you drive in dusty conditions.

Thanks for the reply. Good to know that the mileage is healthy. My daily commute is 12.5 kms one way on Bangalore ORR roads during traffic free hours. Unfortunately, i was unable to get my 3rd free service done since i was out of town. Will get the engine oil replaced and get the air filter cleaned to check if mileage improves.

BTW, are you satisfied with the brakes on Jupiter? I feel the brakes to be very in-effective. Even after applying the brakes completely , it never stops quickly. I remember on my other bikes, wheels lock up during hard braking but that's not the case with Jupiter. Perhaps the brake liners are shot and needs replacement/repair.

1.8km is not enough to have worn brake lining, always use front brake more than the rear brakes, wheels locking is not a good sign, you can have skidding issue.

At the service get the battery water checked.

Yes low running might have affected your battery. Its been 3 years and 35K kms for me & battery still starts in first crank. In winters, it takes a little time during cold starts, hence use kick start in morning.
And I had never used choke all these year, it is jammed now. [lol] .

Along with all these small issues i would like to remind you all that if you guys have not used ur spare key till now start using that as well, keep changing the keys once in few months so the key adjusts to the routine changes of pattern for key bites.
