I like the looks of the Bolero more than the Sumo. The Bolero looks very rugged and has that JEEPish muscular stance compared to the boxy MUVish stance of the Sumo.

However, the Sumo Gold is definitely a better overall vehicle when compared to the Bolero.

If these are the only options I am considering, as a personal vehicle I would pick the Bolero and as a family vehicle, my option would be the Sumo Gold. A white/black Bolero with aftermarket alloys can be drool worthy.

@indica DLS , is it the di bolero or the m2dicr ? To me it is looking like Di . Top end m2dicr is definitely an eye catcher especially brown and the white.
It was top end m2dicr + micro hybrid technology the sales rep told me.

Di Bolero sells mostly in rural areas I believe & is almost 30-40% lower in cost!

RK, I guess its all about perception but lets see where it goes! its all still up in the air frankly [:)]

Di Bolero looks very basic and you can see some cheap plastics used but not in the Sumo CX, looks better.

Sumo looks good if those ugly vinyls on the body is removed and a nice alloys especially with that maroon color, any one can PS my imagination?

Tata Sumo Gold to get facelift in June 2013. Now there would not be a boxy look! Ref :Tata Motors Plans For 2013 | MotorBeam – Indian Car Bike News & Reviews
I checked with Concorde Motors Pune on a possible June 2013 refresh. They called me a day later, having checked with their contacts at TML, and indicated that a new refresh was planned in June 2014.

I have written to the author of the CarDekho article and will wait for his reply regarding confirmation (June 2013 or June 2014) and source.

A Tweet to @TataSumoGold returned with a neutral reply.

Will keep folks posted on this forum !!

CarDekho is re-confirming a 2013 mid-June refresh with Rear A/C vents, Alloys. No ABS though. Look out for their article early next week.

Sumo Gold facelift is ready to be launched in June 2013. It does have ABS option , blue tooth connectivity , revised instrument pannel , more comfortable seats , screen touch controls and GPS option . It is said that overall height is reduced. If this is true than may be the boxy look is changed!
In view of the facelift Sumo launch Tata motors have instructed all the dealers to sell out the Demo Car instantly so as to get ready for the new Demo car.

Are you sure that the body is going to get changed so early? Why is the body change needed when it is selling considerably well?

Also, please share the source where you got the information from, because we have to accredit the original source as per board policies.

I do not think there would be major body change as long as it retains the same chasis. But reduction in overall height could help improve its look.Monthly sale of Sumo Gold is less than 2000 units . That is certainly poor sale compared to Bolero which is around 10000 units.

We needed a people mover and a pick up with crew cab for our construction site. For the pick up, the unanimous choice was Bolero Camper. Other options were just too expensive.

For the people mover, the choice was between the Sumo Gold and Bolero. After a lot of dilly dallying, finally the Bolero Plus was chosen. The advantage of Bolero was that the Plus version offered a greater seating capacity without the frills and features of the Sumo. Secondly, it had a BS3 version on offer, so it was cheaper. The DI engine has proved it's reliability over the years. For us, that was a priority over power and comfort. Plus the vehicle was more suited for the rugged usage of the construction site. Finally, our trust in Mahindra's vehicles is more in terms of reliability, ruggedness and serviceability as compared to Tata's.

So that brings two more Mahindras to the family...

P.S.: Pics are for illustrative purposes only.
