Will they change the interior in this export version?
Interiors are not bad they are perfect for the purpose the sumo is made for ,but export version depends which country they are planning if Europe abs, airbags will become standard

TATA has an established in South Africa. They have already made an entry in Europe. I am not sure about there presence in South American market. I agree the quality of products would be country specific.

left hand sumo gold caught testinghttp://goaonwheels.com/auto-news/exclusive-scoop-left-hand-drive-sumo-victa-caught-testing/

Most probably it may go to African Markets, because MUV application is used a lot there, but i think toyota fares well in those markets with those mini-vans.

Just to add my points on the Sumo Vs Bolero, i found Bolero's interior far better and long lasting than the Gold.
Raja your review was good and made our decision a bit easy too[;)]

Guys,I have never driven any of the cars Bolero and Sumo gold but have sat in both of them.Bolero belongs to many uncles and brother's friends(most of them are property dealers and Bolero is very common among the dealers here) and the Sumo Gold cabs are there in my office and sometimes used by us also to go in the another office of our company which is near Manesar industrial area.
So I have found that Bolero always feel richer than the Sumo Gold.Even the door handles of Sumo Gold feels like they have no finishing while Bolero feels to be better finished.
But yes,in terms of space as well as seating comfort Sumo Gold is better, but Sumo looks too much old then, while Bolero still looks like a new age medium sized SUV.

So are you going for Ertiga?
Bolero was striked off by my dad because he found the car to be huge and said me he cant handle this thing in the cities.(There's a wierd decision from him, i'll share this later as we are moving off topic)

Sumo got rejected for the poor dealership experience we faced in Prerna Motors( people there was hesitant and showed no interest to even offer a TD , they look as if we ask them for a free ride, sorry such attitudes are never ever customer-friendly, learn from Maruti to treat the customers then what about the A.S.S experience?) and we felt that price point (8.54 Lakhs OTR) doesn't make the product to pour in money(we usually do not care about the paper, but this made us think twice).

Ertiga? no buddy, for that matter Xylo is leagues ahead:-)

GOLD is selling like hot cakes,of course by TATA standards.Ask any TATA dealers even if Monsoon dhamaka is going on for all TATA cars there are no specific discounts on GOLD.Proves that its selling very well for TATA standards. Also my last visit to TATA dealership confirmed this when GM ,Basudev Auto Mr. Bharat Tiwari told me that of all TATA vehicles GOLD is selling freely without them putting too much effort on it like other TATA products.

My calling GOLD "selling like hot cakes" was only relative to other TATA products.

Bolero is my choice. Mahindra has been quite clever and therefore reaping profits. They have updated Bolero's looks at regular intervals and kept the core Bolero DNA intact. With the new cosmetic changes the Bolero looks better than Sumo Gold.

My vote goes to Bolero,why?
simple it is:-
1) Looks better than Sumo Gold.
2) Proven Reliability
3) Better Image Perception for buyers
4) Better handler - Lower stance than Sumo Gold

Cons of Bolero:-
1) Lower Mileage than Sumo Gold
2) Ride Quality is not as good as Sumo Gold
3) Sense of Space is lesser than Sumo Gold

Thanx for the clarification . In all honesty I think the sumo gold must sell more because it is sincerely a good vehicle in my view I would love to see the gold doing 5000+ sales every month which I don't think it will happen until tata radically changes the look .

Today itself I again travelled in a Sumo Gold for about 200 kms for some official work and I found the vehicle to be really comfortable. In the mean time I remembered of this thread and hence inspected the vehicle quite well and not to mention, for the first time in my career talked to the driver anything about vehicle, else it was just stop here, move etc.
I think it was a top model because it had power windows. The seats were really big and comfortable and not to mention, there was a lot of space.
The vehicle felt really silent if you compare to the loud sound it produces. It feels like riding good and driver told me that this vehicle is very much better than Bolero in terms of pulling and driving on hills.
The fit and finish is not good but the interior quality looks better than the extremely cheap feeling quality of Bolero's interiors.

I vote for Bolero !!

This is with my experience of driving it two very difficulty regions, one was in Punjab in the interior places of Bhatinda, Patiala, Jalandhar-Pathakot for all most six months and many and many kilometers as hectic as 200km everyday 3 to 4 times in a week.
In Gujarat, Palanpur to Radhanpur stretch interiors with same kind of daily travelling also for 3 to 4 months.
Believe me it was wonderful in every aspect and never let me down anywhere. Only thing which I was not happy with it was the space inside is bit cramped.

I did not have any kind of experience with Sumo Gold so far and even I have not seen one and sat in it, so I can only compare with my experience of regular old sumo !!

@ parc - if you see my mini test drive report few pages back which I did on request of Xover you have shared exactly my view here. I know it will be very silly to tell your driver to sit aside And you driving it [lol] but incase you go to tata show room someday just for fun purpose drive it once see how fun it is to drive the sumo gold you will love it and you will love what it offers ( taking into consideration the segment it belongs too) the comfertable driving seat also , and the ease of driving .

@ Gurralla - darling there is no denying the fact that bolero is extremely abuse friendly , extremely reliable and robust car . And the sales reflect that , but in all sense whatever kind of driving you did in bolero you can do the same kind of stuff in sumo too but in much more comfort there is no cramped feeling in the sumo atall and sumo too is extremely abuse friendly , and reliable ( the most reliable car apart from vista, manza ) and capable car .
The bolero wins hands down in styling but loses and that too by big margin when it comes to space and comfort against the sumo . Whenever you get chance try driving it once without having any prejudice against sumo and tata motors iam sure you will respect the car for what it offers in its respective segment ..
I used to love the bolero and hate sumo after driving both my opinion changed in reverse if atall I buy a farm and need a vehicle for me or even if tata changes the stylying in newage style then sumo gold it is for me as my everyday drive also.
