What is the use of car door speaker spacer rings, like these:

are these required when installing door speakers?
Alok ,those spacers as name suggest are to make space at the rear of speaker ie. behind the magnet so that the speaker doesnt rub against the window panes or body panels .

it does adds to avoid rattling to an extend too with foam type spacers.

they may not be mandatory for every installation or doesnt add anything to sonic qualities but in case of shallow areas this is the only option

How to take out the head unit in a Santro?

How to take out the head unit in a Santro?
I guess I have to take out the black plastic panel first. How to take that out?
What other clips/screws are there?

santro has a very simple stereo mounting system.. first u'll need to remove the black plastic frame around d unit with hands only and then u'll fully insert the unmounting clips one the left and other on d right side of d unit and then pull the clips out along with the stereo.. u would have got those 2 clips in the stero box..

An interesting fact about ‘DIN’ from Wikipedia:
International standard ISO 7736 defines a standard size for car audio head units. The standard was originally established by the German standards body 'Deutsches Institut für Normung' as DIN 75490, and is therefore commonly referred as "DIN car radio size". It was adopted as an international standard in 1984.

Hi Jayadev?

What's your take on Pioneer AVH-5590BT? Is it a good Head Unit? I am planning a setup for my upcoming Maruti Suzuki Dzire.

Head Unit - Pioneer AVH-X5590BT
Front Speakers - Focal Polyglass 165 VB Component Speaker System
Rear Speakers - Rockford Fosgate Prime R16-S Component Speaker System
Amplifier - Rockford Fosgate 250.4 4 channel amplifier
Subwoofer - Focal P-30 12in with custom enclosure
Scoche E2 E2000 Amplifier Wiring Kit, Rockford Fosgate RCA cable and 9m speaker cable.
Dynamat Damping on 4 doors

Planning to connect the rear components directly to HU while RF amp will power the front comp and sub. What do you think of this setup.

Regards,
Sankar

@ Raj5004 - Thank you for this thread, I really learnt a lot.

@ Ilango & Jayadev - Experts thank you for your contributions, I really appreciate it.

So far, only the audio part is covered.
ICE - I guessed would include also the video /DVD? Can you give your views on DVD units as well?
