Reaching 82k km and did a paid service aka general maintenance for weekend ride. Service center agreed to use non-Yamaha oil without any reluctance. Bought them a liter of Motul 7100 20W50. Motul 7100 lasted 5.2k km without any loss of smoothness last time, but required topup. It was pitch black at the time of change, but still smooth. No hard gear shifts. Clutch torsion spring broke, which was the main reason to visit ASC. Also changed brake pads, which was due for replacement. Brake pad lasted 32.5k km with great braking power. The most VFM part, cost only 145 bucks, 15 rupees up from last time.

Installed tyre. Rode an 800 km trip and too much of a grip






Old MRF just reached wear indicator. Lasted 22k km. Tarmac grip was still good, but slippery in wet and mud.

Took Barricade for an 800 km round trip. Still holding strong. Maintained 85 kmph though Duke and GT did the same in relaxed mode, a bit stressed compared the distance covered.

1. Motul 7100 incredibly was smooth.
2. No skipped engine beats. No misfires. No breakdown.
3. Michelin Pilot Street was way better than PSD around corners and is the best one used on FZ so far. Might pick this for Duke also.

New handlebar, grips and mirrors. This time chose 200NS mirror. Also changed rear brake shoes.

And a couple of km back first time it broke down on way, clutch cable snapped. Other than that never failed.

100 is stressed. Can do 80-85 calmly, 400 km is doable relaxingly. Strictly, no back packs when running long. Tie down on seats or tank. FZ is not bad for touring like people say. Only thing is it would be a little boring when there is hell lot of open highway with no restriction and minimal traffic and everyone going faster than you

No vibes and all, but could feel the engine struggling to keep up the pace.

Bum friendlier than Duke . Duke posture is better, but seat is hard.

Does the tank take well to magnet bags?

It's plastic tank, so no scope for mag bags. I used bungie cords to tie down on tank when i had a pillion for Kodai trip. Bungie is used to tie it down on seat too. For GT, we have magnetic tank bags from Viaterra. Duke also got plastic tanks. (Plastic panels over metal tank).

That's where the 390 comes in.

Duke got the raw power, but can't hold in wind. Badly need a visor.

I use them on greasy surface and rims and tars, but not on chain. Chain will be so dirty that it needs diesel or something to soothen it out and then pressure washed to get the grim out.

Bought new bolts. 2 of them damaged when removed. 19 rs INR a piece. Changed all 5.




All set. Disc mounted in opposite rotation. The lathe guy screwed the other side welding when removing the damaged bolts.




Bought LHS cover also. It was red. One side red, one side green.

Very much pleased with the work. Painting done by Travancore Restorations, guys specialized in insurance claims. Did an impeccable job. Though reluctant to mix custom color, did according to our spec, turn around time was good and work was neat. Charged 1600 to paint 2 alloys and drum cover.

Not to mention, thankful to the neighbourhood puncture shop guy. Arun Tyre Works, a young guy started off as 2 & 3 wheeler puncture shop, now got wheel changing machine, nitrogen, etc., all earned through hard work, running a small shop. Told him not to scratch the rims and there is not even mark of the machine holding. Our regular guy scratches the rim despite using modern machine and experienced hands. This guy did an excellent job.
