i will post pics of my setup today evening after i open the door panels for damping
will give u an idea of how to place the crossover without the wires being visible

and not sure about the hertz amp but the focal solid 4 will not need hi low converter
hi vinie ,
are you doing damping in boot also?
if so please put the pics of damping too.

you mean to say focal solid 4 dont need hi-low converter , it means it has hi-level input right?
i am also thinking of connecting hi-level wires. Can you give some idea , how it differs from preouts and what will be the benefit and cost of the wiring kit.
Thank you.

hey neil no im an not damping the boot will be using dynamat for the speaker surrounds and will then use 1/2" foam sheets for the rest of the door

yes the solid 4 does not need hi-low converter

this comes in use only when ur HU does not support preouts (like our factory head unit )

the benefit is that there is no hissing sound that you MIGHT face when you put high - low converter

there is no different wiring needed you use speaker cable from deck to amp high level input rather than rc cable from deck to amp or high low converter to amp

cost will decrease as u can return the rc cord to shop keeper from the kit you buy as you will not use it

if u want punch get a vented square box enclosure i u want more vibrations then bass tube
hi all,

Use this software (from SMD forum) to calculate subbox size and to tune frequncy of subbox.
http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/38791-torres-box-tuning-calculator/

(link to download is on that page)

it works for ported box only

How to use -
1. you have to put height 1 , width and depth 1 in INCH in box dimesnsion
2. Put port dimension in INCH
3. put woofer displacement - usually found in sub manual (in cubic ft. - eg. I put 0.4 for my sub infinity 1260w)
4. select wood(MDF) thickness.

other Cut sheet list and Box stats will automatically appear.

Most important is TUNING FREQUENCY. try to set it between 20 to 40 hz by changing different parameters and then go and make custom made box.

btw I calculated my current subbox in torres calculator and it's currently set at 71 hz ... this is the biggest mistake I made in making a very big port.
(In 1st pic)
I am going to correct it by closing almost 9 inch of port , ( height- 11.2 inch will be changed to only 2 inch ) , and what will be the result see in 2nd pic.
it will be tuned to 31 hz frequency. best for equal amount of punch as well as boom.

Any suggestions ?

I will close the red lined area (in 3rd pic) to do so

Got rear speaker upgrade today.
It's helix espirit 106 - 6.5" round also called helix e6x

50 rms 100 w peak
Audiotec Fischer GmbH | German Car Hifi | Brax -- Helix -- G-Control : esprit speaker overview
Helix E 106 E106 Esprit Serie 16,5 cm Lautsprecher AutoHifi Testsieger - BigDogAudio

Connected it to my JBL amplifier. it gives 150 rms in one channel and this speakers are 50 rms. i had to set gain at almost half , because it was to loud at 2 ohm and will blow the speakers.

Sound quality is promising. not bad and lot better then sony pioneer or JBL.
Even it is 50 rms , it is too loud to hear or it can be due to my high power amp.

I was supposed to buy rockford prime or focal. Rockford prime are very tiny speakers and focal were 1k more then my budget.
He showed helix speakers. It looked more durable and better as it has woven fiberglass cone like infinity kappa series.

2nd and 3rd pic are stock rear speakers . 15w rms 25w max[:D]

Finally got true sound in my car. Next upgrade will be front components in January

Song - Electro Sun Vanilla (from nick's playlist)

There is huge improvement in sound quality after adding helix. Check out by yourself. Same song with stock and helix.
For those who were asking how much improvement in sound quality will be there with aftermarket speakers installation. I hope your doubt will be clarified after seeing the below videos.

Old with
all stock speakers
infinity 1260w sub

Electro Sun - Vanilla - (in my car) - YouTube

new with
front stock speakers
Rear - Helix e106
Sub - infinity 1260w

Sorry for night video as there is no Exmor R sensor in my Xperia and blame sony if there is any distortion in video because in reality there is no distortion. Sound is crystal clear. Helix sounds good.

Elctro Sun - Vanila ( Helix espirit 106 ) ( Infinity 1260w ) ( JBL GTO1004e) - YouTube
