Many times, soft reset helps resolve a lot of minor issues in the phone and no, you would not lose any data by soft resetting you phone.
Press the volume low button along with the power button for 15 second. Phone will restart itself. That's all.
PS --> When you do this, there would be a message on your screen "slide down to power off". Don't do that. Just make sure you press the two keys for 15 seconds.

Just updated to the latest update from Microsoft on 8.1, while its not radical, some really nice tweaks for ease of use to touch screen laptops (with mouse) - much much better than before. Looks like they finally hired a usability expert - hope they continue updates along this direction rather - long way to go for them!

I've bought Dell Inspiron 15 (core i3) few months back with Windows 8.1 but never tried to use Bluetooth option.

On Lappy, external device always shows as NOT CONNECTED. But when I try to send any file from external BT device, the message displays on external BT device as unable to connect, at the same time for few seconds I can see some file transfer status on my Lappy and again as not connected.
What would be the reason for this ?

I had the same issue with my wife's 720 initially where it would keep looking the connection, and not connected message would pop up.
