Microsoft News | Windows 8.1 To Have Nokia Smart Cam Like Photo Loop Camera Feature
While Microsoft has already released Windows 8.1 RTM to MSDN, TechNet subscribers and few others, consumers will be able to download it only next month(October 22nd). If you are wondering what Microsoft will do with Windows 8.1 RTM code till general availability, here is a part of the answer.
Microsoft is planning to release updates for Bing Search, Sports, Finance, Travel, Food and Drink apps on Oct 22nd. Microsoft is also planning to update the stock camera app which will have a new feature called ‘Photo Loop’. With this Photo Loop feature, when you open the Camera app on Windows 8.1 with a compatible device it will start to automatically begin taking pictures in the background. After you snap your photo, you can use a radial menu to rewind a photo to capture the exact moment you needed. Yes, this is similar to Nokia Smartcam app and Blackberry’s Rewind feature.
The Verge reported the following new features in Bing updates that are coming,
Bing search will be updated to include additional hotels and restaurants search categories. On the app side, Bing Food and Drink will be updated to include instructional videos from world renowned chefs and 100,000s of new recipes with new guides on cooking meals. Bing Finance will be updated to allow users to connect to a portfolio directly and make trades within the app. Bing Travel is getting additional user generated photos from Trover and Michellin, and Bing Sports will be updated with additional real-time live events and over 20 more international leagues.

Microsoft News | Microsoft Surface ‘Mini’ Delayed Till Spring 2014?
There is a new information from ZDNet that Surface Mini won’t be released until Sprint 2014. According to Mary Jo Foley, the Surface Mini is coming, but not in calendar 2013 and she expects Surface Mini in early 2014. She also reported that the Surface Mini is going to come preloaded with a Windows 8.1 update, that is codenamed “Spring 2014 GDR.”
The Spring 2014 GDR for Windows 8.1 will align with Windows Phone “Blue,” which may or may not be called Windows Phone 8.1 when it ships, according to my sources. Whatever it’s called, it will be the first “major” update for Windows Phone since Microsoft rolled out Windows Phone 8 in fall 2012.
If the new cross-divisional operating system division at Microsoft can pull this off, Microsoft will launch Windows 8.1 Spring 2014 GDR, Windows Phone Blue and the Surface Mini on or around the same time in spring 2014.
