Re: Nokia Lumia Series Smartphones Discussions and Experiences

Your dad as 4.2.2 because his son is a geek , techno kid . not everybody son , wife , bro , uncle is a tech savvy to install roms and root the phone understand this . The depend on phone makers only .

Yes it ended with 7.8 but after 4 official updates from Microsoft . Even now 7.8 just works fine has all the most used applications running super smooth .
i was talking about app compatibility.

as of now even the GB phone have a large number of apps available.

they are obsolete only in terms of apps built for ICS onwards.

as said , the operating system is not restrictive like windows , the companies selling the android mobiles are.

regarding rooting, even a google search gives detailed account of all the procedures of rooting.

though i am a technology enthusiast, i am no geek.

i cannot make custom roms, i still depend on rom makers (geeks) for roms, i choose what i need the most and choose the rom accordingly

Re: Nokia Lumia Series Smartphones Discussions and Experiences

Sir, you need to be open to facts. I've 2+ years old HTC Mozart running WP7. I can't find a single Android phone among my friends which is as old and hasn't become obsolete or sold off. In fact, new purchasers in my office are always comparing their phones with mine to see how good their phones and the apps on them are. Phones like HTC One, Samsung S4, iPhone 5, Lumia 720 are compared. The biggest fear of an Android phone is actually the fact that they will become obsolete very soon with apps no more supporting them unlike on my WP7. Even most of Samsung models become obsolete.

About rooting and all, I don't understand advantage of Android here. I've changed my ROM too, to a Lumia 710 and it gives me all Nokia exclusive apps and features like more camera options, Drive, Maps, games, Cinemagraph and all.

By changing to a custom ROM, I also have much more things like file manager, USB video output and everything I could want.
from HTC 7 you went to max NOKIA 7.8 , say one obsolete version to the other. I cant understand whats so special about it.

if you can get 8 or so then i would have understood your enthusiasm. and yes HTC build quality is excellent. no denying that.

Brother even the 7.8 has many apps which still work flawlessly my wife regularly gets updates for apps from the developers and nokia too .

The opreating system maybe not be restricted but phone makers are and that itself makes android very fragmented .

There is no standard set hence some apps are good and some are bad , because screen resolution varies and also the hardware across the phones .

Some people even don't know what version of android they are using forget rooting and most of them depend on phone makers .

Anyway this is a lumia thread so news about lumia is imp we can discuss this on android vs windows thread .

Here are night videos from lumia 1020

To be very frank, please tell me how many mobiles know about rooting and custom rams and have time to do all that stuff. It is just possible for the people who are tech savy, has lot of leisure time and can play around with things[:)]

Re: Nokia Lumia Series Smartphones Discussions and Experiences

to burst your bubble, my 2.5 year old backup handset motorola glam xt800 ( my 1st android) still works awesome with vintage 2.1 eclair.

still retails @ 8700 flipkart

my dad wanted to use whatsapp and i readily gave him that handset to try android as well.

have set it with the apps he requires like email etc , as i said earlier and am repeating , android handsets are fine tuned to run as stock. only if you wanna play around with stuff, resource hungry games and all, then only the rat race begins. otherwise even the most basic android phones work like a charm.

i cannot say for everyone.

the scenario is the same as windows for PC.

it is like asking how many people know installing windows OS on a windows PC.

it is like asking why people prefer a windows PC to a macbook etc.

it is that much easy or difficult.

a simple youtube video can tell how long it needs to install custom roms.

leaving aside the download time for roms, the installing roms procedure takes at max 5 minutes.

the same time windows phones need updating its roms from navifirm.

thanks for that compliment. at least i do something good

i have used HTC touch diamond for 2 years buddy, had purchased that phone for 26k four years back.

except for ios which i have never used nor do i plan to and the BB10 which i feel is a great os but i may not shift there soon.

windows has evolved so has android and BB over the years. ios is stucK there with not much happening in that front.

W6 was a start, W7 was a disaster, MS pays elop to use W8 and maybe the tables have turned now with W8 doing well but still there is a lot of catching to do.
W$ is still following IOS path and keeping everything closed which atleast for me is a big turn off.

inspite of a few guys here blowing windows trumpet at a drop of the hat, you have nothing more to show & prove except for the camera quality. every app that gets launched is celebrated as if its diwali at your home.

and yes, my phone does not lag, nor does the phone book stutter.

lol, as i said before, and again i repeat , there is life beyond the horizon too. [:)]

Ofcourse you are un disputed google boy of the forum . Who has created his own lagroid kingdom and is king of it [;)]

.
Great, even I have used a Sony xperia .

except for ios which i have never used nor do i plan to and the BB10 which i feel is a great os but i may not shift there soon.
Nice

Ok
W6 was a start, W7 was a disaster
,

W6 is history that os is no more functional . W7 as every new os was limited same like iOS and android .
MS pays elop to use W8 and maybe the tables have turned now with W8 doing well but still there is a lot of catching to do.
And how is that a concern or a problem for you if ms pays elop or not ? It is their internal deal as a consumer how does that pain you ? Iam sure 10$ from your account is not deducted since ms pays nokia to use wp8 right ?

W$ is still following IOS path and keeping everything closed which atleast for me is a big turn off.
We know that and hence you have not bought a windows phone , but this thread is for people who have bought or planning to buy or just interested in latest news concerning nokia windows phone and clearly not about what you personally prefer and like . Moreover you have posted you views before and we know that you prefer lagroid .

inspite of a few guys here blowing windows trumpet at a drop of the hat, you have nothing more to show & prove except for the camera quality
.
The way you get wet dreams because of a new launcher , similarly there are many who want a industry best camera in their smart phone and get excited when nokia pushes the envelope by brining the latest tech in smartphone cameras .

Beside there is nothing great to talk because rest all things work flawlessly the way it is desgined to work .

Again the thread is all about nokia and what latest news comes from their stable , hence every possible news about it including camera is posted and will be posted even in future . If you have allergy with that you are free to ignore it .

]
every app that gets launched is celebrated as if its diwali at your home.
Since windows phone is a new platform , major applications are publishing their apps and hence users need to know which apps are being released .

Since its your sweet and cute assumption that posting information of latest apps released is like celebrating Diwali , I will let you indulge in that cute little assumption if that makes you happy .

Moreover lagroid boys keep on screaming windows phone have no apps , hence relevant information about which latest apps are released is posted so interested members can have the latest information about it .
and yes, my phone does not lag, nor does the phone book stutter.
Which rom fixed it ?

lol, as i said before, and again i repeat , there is life beyond the horizon too.
+100 even iam saying the same .

Btw since its a nokia lumia related thread check the camera review and sample pics of lumia 1020 [;)]

LOL,
Its like you have deliberately closed your eyes towards the fact that others started to realize these days. No body can wake you up as you have been made up your mind and believes that anything and everything comes from google is Pearl whereas others pretend to be so.

One advantage, Lumia doesn't really require an anti-virus software to keep you away from Viruses. Second, and Yes, you agreed that you feels bit inferior on the camera quality of your current phone. Nokia phones are sturdy enough to last long for rough uses.

The thing is even samsung and htc makes good windows phone , the point with nokia is that it gives you so many things extra in the lumia which is not really found in a htc or samsung windows phone . And nokia being committed to the platform makes even more sense to buy a lumia .

I am sorry, I did not intentionally tried to hurt someone.
@Appus, I just follow almost all your posts because of this neutral behavior. I think you are using an Apple phone so that you can be neutral always here.
