Re: Nokia Lumia Series Smartphones Discussions and Experiences

There is no option to save videos on the phone shared through WhatsApp. I have mentioned this problem earlier.

@ right now & all ,

I had assumed since the pics send in whats app save in the albums same must be applicable to videos too.

The videos dint get save in any folder but stay in the app only .

Sorry for the wrong information posted by me .

Iam sorry incase it has created a confusion or may have misleaded someone.

Only pics get saved in albums ,maybe a update might allow the same for the videos in future.

as said already , nokia is for light users, who do not much of anyhting other than maybe camera, or some general apps.

for more intensive jobs , there is always an android.

Nokia for Light users? What is light and what is intensive? In fact if you go through deep, you might get amazed with the downloading speed Nokia handset is able to deliver when working with 3G.

speed are network and hardware independent.

if you have a 21mbps capable phone but a 7.2mbps 3g network , no matter what phone you choose , you will get max 7.2mbps speeds.

light as in not using too much whats app with too many groups.

i had occasions of receiving about 100+ messages group messages in whats app within 30 mins.
many with pics and videos, and audio files.
and i wont be hoping to wait to download each and every file all the time.
and whatsapp is known to drain battery of windows phones.

Re: Nokia Lumia Series Smartphones Discussions and Experiences

So even we can know what big deal windows phone users are missing ?
Few which I experienced..
Tethering : We cant use 3G mobile data connection on a desktop which doesn't have Wi-Fi connectivity. Means, windows doesn't allow to share internet via USB. I was able to use this with my E6
Zooming: We cant use "ZOOM" functionality while shooting videos. We do not have "PAUSE" option too while video shooting.
File Manager: Not a drawback as far as I am concerned. But missing.
FM Radio: Still missing. However I am not a regular listener of FM stations. But many might miss that

One more thing, did anyone checked sharing of files via Bluetooth? What happens if you did not Tap the notification bar immediately after receiving a file? I found it is annoying. I was transferring few Pics from my friend and I didn't noticed the notification bar. I think the notification bar was displayed for few seconds only and later there was not option to trace the file I have received. It was neither in "photos" session nor in received file. After searching for few minutes, I got it transferred again and this time I was keen to tap the notification bar when it popped up. Please check if this has happened only for me.

I have checked this particularly between my L820 and friend's Xperia SP both have similar downloading speed. We both are using BSNL 3G connection. We checked it by watching a video in facebook. I was able to get the video completely without buffering where Xperia SP sometimes lagged for completion of buffering.

and whatsapp is known to drain battery of windows phones.
Not just windows. In fact, I am able to use my 820 for 3.5 hours (continues heavy usage of mobile data including mails, browser, video downloading etc...) whereas his Xperia SP drains like it will end up in 2.5 hours. However, I could not check this till my battery drains completely. And if you have Wi-Fi accessibility, then you will get quiet good backup from Nokia phones.
One more thing, I was comparing with Nokia made windows phones. I do not know if you are referring to other windows phones made by manufactures like HTC, Samsung etc...

if you had a file manager, it would have been as smooth as MJ;s moon walk to search that file. W8 is a close os hence they have not given that option. maybe they will fix it soon. giving no access to the phones memory is simply unpardonable.
_____

wrt whatsapp, maybe while installing it afresh, you guys should try to set the downloads to sd card and/or install it in sd card instead of the phone. this is possible in android and maybe in W8 as well.

EDIT > googled and there is no option in W8 to install stuff to sd card but found this http://www.7tutorials.com/how-install-windows-phone-8-apps-sd-card-save-space

this app should be handy for you guys

But you dint tell us yet what intensive task have you performed on android , and how nokia windows phone are light .
Or is receiving too many videos and pics in what's app is doing something intensive for you ? [roll]

and whatsapp is known to drain battery of windows phones.
The latest update solves it .

Well some one who has no wifi in home can face this problem .

Zooming: We cant use "ZOOM" functionality while shooting videos. We do not have "PAUSE" option too while video shooting.
Nokia will be sending a new update in which users will get this functionality of zooming they infact demoed it on the 1020 .
File Manager: Not a drawback as far as I am concerned. But missing.
I have never found any problem because of the missing manager , I think its not a big issue the iPhone too doesn't have it and it seems million users of iPhone too have not faced any problems because of that .

FM Radio: Still missing. However I am not a regular listener of FM stations. But many might miss that
Comming in latest update .

Will check and update .

Re: Nokia Lumia Series Smartphones Discussions and Experiences

Well here is a leak comming

Nokia Lumia 620 is a low cost WP8 device that allowed Nokia to attract mid-range smartphone users. There were reports in the past that Nokia is working on a Lumia 620 successor with large screen size. This was confirmed today by the device certification in Chima in the nane of Nokia Lumia 625H. The device as expected will have 4.7 inch screen, 512 MB RAM, both front & rear cam and other usual WP8 specs.

The device is expected to go on sale in coming weeks with the price of about 300 USD to 350 USD in various countries around the world starting from China.

I think this device could become another best selling device under Lumia brand for Nokia.

Re: Nokia Lumia Series Smartphones Discussions and Experiences

After receiving 2 updates for Windows Whats App over the weekend, here we go with the 3rd one - ver 2.10.506. No change log available to pin point changes. So I presume its minor bug fixes.

Btw, new version is a great boon for battery life. Earlier one used to kill battery due to api usage. Now battery life has gone up by 20-30% easily. [thumbsup]

There is no such problem at all. I use my mobile data connection to get connected on my laptop always and it works excellent. In fact after buying this mobile I have discontinued using Tata photon while travelling.

@SB since you are not a business user yet, so please do not conclude what is light and intensive. Phones are not just made for WhatsApp or games[anger]
