Spot on Appu. I was planning to gift the phone to dad on Vishu. Normally we give adress and seek parents blessing. This time i had thought of something different a watch for my mom and a phone for my dad. Alas i might not be able to do so.[sad]

Go to the nearest store an purchase.You may get on 11-12th in nokia store. If not, go for 'already proven Nokia 620' Do not get depressed :)

In stors they will have a price difference of 1-2k and also with online purchase i would double benefits of 6 months 0% emi and points for my HDFC credit card. Will gift the mobile towards the end of the month. No other option.:frown:

If you are planning to book from flipkart, just call them and request before booking. If they can ship on same day, you will get it. HS18 cant deliver for sure in my opinion. I have done couple of stuffs like this with few ebay sellers/flipkart/(yesterday with hs18 too) . They normally help.

Thanks a lot for the suggestions. I had got it done in a local shop. He had a equipment like a stapler. He fitted my Sim in that and pressed it to break it in one sec :):) It was very easy. I offerred him money but he didn't accept any :)

I had seen links to DIY but thought that has a second option if no shop guy helps. But it was done easily :)

Nokia Lumia series is a wondeful phone i was fiddling with it yesterday whole night and the colours are also good. Windows 8 is very userfriendly (windows as always is). Your dad will love the ease of usage. The no of apps are also increasing day by day. the Clear black display is very good. now the display of my 2 yr old Samsung WAVE2 looks bad(Its also has a great display) :(

Hi pras,

Congrats on your Lumia 620. I have almost decided on cyan Lumia 520 but it has not been released yet to Indian market. Once it is launched to Indian market i shall buy it from an online store.[:D]

Official price for L520 is 10499/-, same as that on Flipkart. And local store, you can avail emi options, as far as i've seen. Maybe small ones wont have.

In case you want to gift him for Vishu, as suggested by one of our fellow member, you may go ahead with already proven and on demand L620.

I feel L620 as not a VFM product comparing L620. Also i feel L520 looks better than L620. No offence meant to existing L620 owners just my initial observations.[:)]. Let me check with some of the stores in Trivandrum but i am sure the prices quoted will be more than the prices in flipkart. Probably in 11-12k range.[frustration]

L520 would reach by month end only. Chances are high that L720 would come before that.

Nokia has officially launched L520 for 10499/-, so the possibility of high price is ruled out.

One can get L620 for 13500-13700/- after bargaining, with actual price being 14,499/- (by Nokia). So, difference of 3k, you get NFC, secondary cam, flash for primary cam.

Again it depends on user preference. Both L520, and L620 are VFM in their own leagues.

L520

Bigger screen with IPS Display
Slightly better battery
No secondary camera or flash
Cheap plastic cover on the back
No sensors NFC/Proximity
Smoothness

L620
NFC / Proximity Sensors
Better build on back cover (finishing is better)
Front camera
LED Flash
Smaller in size.

Processor/RAM/ other hardware looks same !

Does L520 looks squarer and i feel Lumia phones look better when they have sharp edges on all 4 sides. Also L520 is 5k less than L620. Importantly L520 has 4in IPS superior display to L620's 3.8in TFT LCD dsiplay.

Yes, L520 is squarer with IPS display, which would be benefial in sunlight / outdoor conditions.

The price difference is around 4k only on MRP. But you could bring the difference down to 3k by bargaining for L620 at stores. Even Flipkart was giving it for 14100/- +5% discount on transactions (dont know the present offer). You can check the nokia website itself for price.

Ebay prices are on higher side.:eek:

@sanker your selection of 520 is just perfect for your father, even I like a phone with sharp corners.

@appus, yes the Nokia drive name changed to HERE DRIVE now

can some body tell me what is NFC and its usefulness??
