An amazing travelogue and I can well understand how exciting this drive would have been. Pictures are lively and so refreshing. I can also notice the “Material” on number plates. Hope it’s just a mere editing job? Looks neat.

Thanks 350Z,

Drive was really exciting.
'Materials' apperaing in number plate is an editing job neatly done by our collegue Saravanan.
(We all work in Materials dept.)

Infact I was getting an error message that says exceeded the max file size alloted. Posted the error report in the link provided by you.

Its strange that same message appears when I tried to post a new thread (for the first pic upload attempt in the new thread) [confused]

I think the error message you are getting is due to the size of the picture. Try re-sizing the picture and upload them again.

Coming to your travelogue , nice pictures buddy! A trip that long with 3 cars must have been real fun!

Re: Ajanta, Ellora trip - with fabulous pictures.

Daulatabad Fort:

Its a magnificent fort with amazing defence mechanisms.
There are 2 and in some places 3 layers of defence walls before the main fort surrounded by a deep trunch infested with crocodiles and dangerous creatures during its glory.
Entrances are designed to create a stampede in enemy troops in case of an attack.
There are some dark tunnels which are the only pathways leading to the inner fort and its designed with uneven steps (both in width as well as height) and those who move towards the point where some light is available will fall into pits. Mean while those who wander through the darkness will be treated with boiling oil poured from top. Amazing medieval architecture and engineering techniques.

Ellora in Pictures:

Ellora caves are spread over a sprawling hill.
What makes them magnificent is that the caves it self are carved out of single rock. (not only the sculptures but the entire cave is carved out from top to bottom - all of them are made like that)

There are caves with single floor, two floors and three floors.

Amazing!! wonder how they must have scooped out tons and tons of rock for each of caves.

Hello Autosafari,

Very informative and well explained details for the trip. Hope you all must have enjoyed the this trip to the heritage sites. Photographs are excellent and despite the cloudy weather its very clear and refreshing ones.

Keep this site and followers of this site updated regarding your future adventurous trips. Keep it up. Further your earlier post of " Kerala to Daman in single day " was also very inspiring one and based on that I got the courage of visiting my home town Chandigarh by Car which I completed in the 2nd week of Aug. Will update/ share the pleasure of journey shortly.

The size of the pillar give us some idea about the amount of work gone into. Entire structure carved out of single rock - scooping out massive amount of rocks. Wonder what kind of technology used in those days for this.
