Dear Mr. Narayanan,

After having browsed multiple pages of various automobile enthusiast forums I finally chanced upon 'the automotive india' and also chanced upon your thread due to my fascination towards owning the old generaton dzire now known as the TOUR. I must say I got engrossed and fascinated by the way you have painstakingly modified your tour to look like the earlier vdi.

I wasted no further time and joned this community simply to be able to follow your thread which I think is becoming an encyclopedia for the old generation dzire lovers like myself. Currently i drive the new wagon r vxi and will be buying the dzire tour lxi/ldi in or around Dec 13/Jan 14[:)]. I may not end up being as enterprising as you have in the modifications, but i hope to be able to obtain your recommendations and guidance in achieving my desire of owning a dzire tour and transforming it into a vxi/vdi.

Best Wishes for your ICE upgradations![thumbsup]

Members,

Could you please let me know if the dzire tour lxi/ldi have the old engine contained in the outgoing dzire? OR does it include the new engines present in the new dzire?[confused]

Hey Shankar

I read something online a couple of days back which got my attention. It seems the Kerala traffic police is going to fit their highway patrol vehicles with photometers to detect the intensity of the headlamps of cars running on the roads and will fine the owners if they have high output bulbs fitted.

So I am guessing you and I will be in trouble. [frustration]

Regards,
Vipin
Vipin my guess is that they are after those Hid kits which are more than 4300k. I am hoping our cars are not their targets[:)]

Sankar

Thanks for your wishes Lawyeronwheelz[:)]

Dzire Tour has same engine as the old generation Dzire. It still has turbolag which the current gen Dzire doesn't have. But the current gen Dzire doesn't provide yoy that kick or excitement when you get to turbo range which the old gen Dzire and Dzire Tour has.[clap]

Kerala Police right? You can never say what is up with them.
What they should do first is to get working street lights and smooth pothole-free roads before becoming strict or whatever. Pure stupidity on their part I say.

Actually they are very strict in North Kerala especially in Ernakulam long way back. I have never seen any biker without helmet. Road conditions are to be blamed on the entire government and not just the police officials. Just my opinion Vipin[:)]

Yup. Definitely not the KP. I mean't the government. But the thing is that Kerala Police can be strict here down south only if the government installs working street lights and does something about the horrible potholes. Kollam district is comparatively pothole-free compared to Trivandrum. Alapuzha is horrible. But after that, it is comparatively good. I've only heard that the highway from EKM to up north is really good. Never been lucky enough to drive on it.

Yes very true Vipin. The NH-47 from Trivandrum are very poor but the MC road going to Kottayam from Trivandrum are just super smooth. You can do 100km/hr with any issues all day.

The only reason I don't do 100km/h is the speed cameras. There are quite a lot of them there so I stick to the 70km/h limit (I have been fined Rs. 400 once for doing 72km/h [frustration]).
BTW, do you polish your car? As a D.I.Y or do you get it done anywhere? Just asking because my car has a ton of tar spots that I need to get removed and I think polishing is the only way.

I polish my car myself. I have the following products for this.

Merguiars Car shampoo
Merguiars Interior Polish
Merguiars Ultimate Wax
Merguiars Quick Detailer
Jopasu Car Duster
Jopasu Microfiber cloth

Regarding tar spots in your car what i have been doing to my i10 is that i wash the entire car cleanly, then soak a small cloth with diesel in tar spots. Don't rub the cloth. Just apply diesel their leave it like than for 1-2 minutes. Then clean the whole area with water. Tar spots will go for sure. Remember to apply wax after cleaning again.[:)]

As i am from Angamaly, i don't have to worry about speed cameras when we going to Thrissur side. They were working only from Vytilla. But now we have to take care till Thrissur.

yesterday night while i returning from Thrissur, i had a chance to experience this works. While passing Chalakudy, I had seen flashing this on one Karnataka registraion Etios in front of me. While my speed was at 110 km/hr and suddenly braked to reduce speed below 79km/hr to save myself.

Since i am handling the Company car profile in my company, i got 3 charge letters from the RTO for our company cars last week. All 3 are charged at the speed guns fixed in the Nandikkara & Amballoor area.

Sorry for the OT here. thought this information can save somebody
