It should be done for every 5000-6000 KM. And no need to doubt the M.A.S.S on this. I prefer to get it done at service center rather outside.
Thanks Alok for this quick feedback. I am on phone with SE to advice on doing wheel balancing, while writing this post [clap]

I just quickly ran through some latest posts on this thread and saw that many guys are installing driver arm rest in the ertiga. My personal experience has been very bad with so called universal driver arm rest. I purchased it from ebay and it looks very similar to the other models described in the thread.
The standalone quality turned out to be decent but the support fixture is very poorly designed. The entire unit moves with a light push.
And one fine day, my daughter nailed the last bolt in coffin by standing on it [cry]
The usual plasic crack was heard by everybody in the car and i had to stop the car to collect the broken arm rest lying on the floor mat.
If somebody want to get this installed, please first check it manually by visiting the shops, and do check the fixture unit. Don't purchase if it is of plastic, my advice!

I own Ertiga ZDI (Nov 2013 make) and i just submitted it to the service station for my second free service. I was advised for wheel balancing but i rejected saying its not required for a car 6 months old.
But my SE said they will again rotate tyres..so, my question is 'do i now need to get wheels balanced?'
In my personal experience, it is best to maintain tyres ourselves than going by advise of SE. It is fairly simple. Sharing my experience with respect to tyres maintenance, which will help in maximizing tyre life and indirectly reduce suspension maintenance:

1. Maintain correct tyre pressure - If you are using 'regular air' check air pressure in all wheels every time you fill diesel or 2 weeks (which ever is earlier). If nitrogen, duration can be once in 4 weeks

2. Wheel alignment and balancing every 5000kms

Wheel alignment - As name also suggests, in this process wheels (mostly front 2 wheels) are aligned in order to ensure they are not tilted like this \ ----- / or / ----- \.
There are more aspects to it - but keeping it simple for explanation purpose.

A simple test to check wheel alignment - In straight road, loosen grip on steering to see if the vehicles pulls to left or right instead of proceeding on straight line.

Wheel balancing - Wear and tear of the tires is often not uniform around the circumference which results in imbalance at high speeds (due uneven distribution of weight). This phenomenon is common to all rotating objects like rotors of motors which are also balanced by adding counterweights.

A simple check for wheel balancing - In speeds excess of 80 to 100kmph if steering wheel starts wobbling front 2 wheels needs to be balanced.

Note: Fixing punctures disturbs wheel balancing even precautions are taken to mark the tyres position & retention of position of the counter weights. So if any of the front wheel is repaired for punctures, I would rebalance that wheel alone.

Bangalore,
Hi Friends,

After seeing the new Honda City- ICE, I am thinking why not I should get same sort of ICE for Ertiga instead of stock one. Now I think, why did I spent 10K on reverse parking camera and 6K for Jabra Freeway instead of that I could have bought a nice ICE which with all the required features.

My requirement is :HU which should be capable
1:Bluetooth
2:Touch screen (here I should be able to search songs from usb)
3: 7 inch
4: Reverse camera compatible.
5: It can take care of GPS, is there any android base where I can load sygic map.
6: Should able to play videos.
7: Good voice command.
8: It should be 100% compatible to existing steering control buttons.
9: Is there any android based?
10: No Chinese product, looking for a good and reliable brand.

Please advice on some more points:
1: Will I get any resale value for stock Nippon HU (ZDI model) or this HU can be fitted to Spark mid variant which is at home.

2: Can I use a nice android tab or even I-Pad. I am having Galaxy Tab 2 but can get a better one if needed for car.

3: Any chance for voiding warranty.

Thanks,
Alok
I doubt we can still have steering mount controls after this upgrades, I heard that even mapmyindia ertiga compatible product also doesnt support steering mount controls to control it.

I found this on ebay and good news is it supports steering mount controls
http://www.ebay.in/itm/OEM-FIT-PANS...=IN_Car_Accessories_Parts&hash=item3f334a5080
not sure about the brand and quality.

(14) Steering control functions compatible - No additional attachment required to use steering control with this unit

Got my LUV back yesterday.
They have done a decent job.
The scraped paint on the left rear wheel arch and floorboard has been repaired to some extent by spraying (they have repainted the whole panel upto the rear windscreen), but the scratches that extend on the door couldn't be fully repainted. It is visible only on close inspection. The scratch on rear bumper will be attended by claiming insurance, the next time.
Rest all usual servicing was good as usual but the cleaning was not upto my satisfaction. In fact, my cleaning is much better. Ridiculous that they charge 300 rupees for washing and cleaning!
The tires have been rotated as usual, but they have mixed air with Nitrogen that we have been using (We didn't tell about the Nitrogen, they wouldn't touch the tires if we mention it.)
So, now we have to change the mixture and replace with full nitrogen.
Changed oil filter and cabin filter.
We had asked them to re-align the headlamps properly and they have done it without charging.
Regular service amount Rs.5533 and body shop bill amount Rs.2921 is quite decent for all the jobs done. Will give a rating 9/10 though. Maruti Suzuki gives peace of mind.[:D]

Dj bro, you mentioned Rs.5533 as regular service charge. Do i assume that this is minimum charge for ertiga for paid service? I just completed 2nd free service of my Ertiga (ZDI) and would soon (6 months still though [:)]) enter into paid service world, thus interested to know the maintenance cost of the LUV.
Other Ertiga (Diesel) owners may plz provide information on the same.

You just did an intermittent service to fix any brake related issue ? If Yes, what kind of problem you faced.

No issued faced by me at all. The service center Guy suggested me to get the brakes/ liners cleaned as the ODO has already crossed 17,000Kms. Just a precautionary measure. I really don't know if this was needed..but a peace of mind after the brakes are cleaned and checked.[:)]

After this service I found the handbrake bit hard and active even if i lift it slightly upward.

IMO, noise in the breaks can be rectified by cleaning the brakes.

If the noise is persistent, better to check with MASS. Since you mentioned you hear the noise only while applying brakes, most likely it could be accumulated dust in the brake pads. This could be resolved by just cleaning the brake pads. Another less likely chance is when brake pads are completely worn out and the metal pieces start rubbing against each other - which is more serious & requires replacement of brake pads.

Servicing was done at 'Sai Service' - Lower Parel. As rightly said by TAIdhana I recommend you to get the brakes cleaned it might solve the noise issue while braking.

Cheers

I was keen to get rid of the 'beep' sound when we lock or open the car using key remote. Usually 1 Beep when we close and 2 beeps when we open the car. The service adviser got it done for me very easily and the sound was eliminated.[:D]

He is of the opinion that now if in case of attempt of theft, the security system will get activated however only the lights will blink continuously without any (Alarm) continuously beep sound.[surprise]

This is strange. Need to know the facts about same from my TAI friends.

Cheers
