Re: 4300K Quality HID Kit Technical Review and Install (W+Pics)

Hello there!
1..if you're short on budget, upgrade the fogs first. they serve as second low beams and really enhance the safety. otherwise, it's better to upgrade BOTH lows and fogs at once.

2. I don't quite remember duster headlamps. is the black tint on the lens or just around the bezels surrounding reflectors? do remove any black tints if possible

3. the experience in rain is well documented in this thread before. however, as duster does not have projectors to control light beam, I cannot comment about spreading during Bad weather.

generally, HID = PROJECTOR.

if you drive a lot during rains, just upgrade to 3000k hid lamps in fogs and keep headlights stock.

p.s- I assume you have genuine oem fogs.
I have attached the Duster headlamp picture for your reference. I could go with HID fogs first, but would it make a substantial difference to the low (ground level light) ? I have a problem with the throw of the low beams. And yes, I have OE fogs.

Hello again,
1. the black detailing I see is on the bezels and shouldn't have any affect on the beam or bulb.

2. the reason I said upgrade fogs first is simple, they're low and have flat cutoffs so can be safely kept on without glaring others (oem fogs only )

On the other hand, if you upgrade low beams first, fogs will simply get eaten away by the HID low beams and you wouldn't even know they're on! in short they become useless.

of course best way is to upgrade both.

That probably makes sense. Let me see if I can get the HID fogs installed over the weekend and report back in the thread. thanks bhvm!

@bhvm,

Read through the complete thread. Very very provocative to get one of those kits[;)]
As I understood, It will be a simple plug and play kit.
Or Do I need to get it fitted from outside.
I have a Tata Zest which has the projector lamps from its inception.

I'm glad you liked it.
apart from cutting the dust cap, there's no modification required so you may as well do it at home. I did DIY on many cars (xuv is toughest I say) and didn't have any problems.

I haven't used Morimots.

Since ages, Audis and BMW have used 4100k. Best possible HID output by science.
Recently with the advent of Dynamic lighting and LED matrix lighting, they seem to have moved to 5000~5700k. Very white with no tints at all.
Hi there
I have a silver alto k10 2012 model silver colour and I'm planning to put those Chinese led projectors with led angel eye as a fog lamp. I found a guy who's selling them for 1500 a pair. Any suggestions? Also I want to put projector with 4300k or maybe a little higher hid as the headlight.. Could u explain a little regarding the high beam (like how is the high beam gonna work) and also some approximate price and any good shops if u know in chandigarh. And please do tell something about the led switchback drl flexible lights... Would they suit my pocket rocket??

Hi TechLaller.

Chinese LED Projector would be a waste. They do not have any cutoff and are exactly like floodlights used from helicopters during natural disasters. They will also require cutting of your fog/headlamp assembly (where ever you want to fit them) and is simply not worth the risk because they can conk off anytime. LED Projectors will have 1 (or maybe 3 in expensive ones) LED and it will need to be replaced entirely if that one LED goes kaput. In HID setups, you can replace bulb, projector, ballast and wiring seperately.

High beam will work from the same projector (and same HID bulb). The projector will have a solenoid operated shield which will move accordingly to form a cutoff (on low beam) or otherwise. You will not be able to flash though (if the HID bulb is not warmed up already) during daytime.

DRL flexible lights will require opening up of your headlight assembly. They are good for show-off purpose but won't have much/any illumination. Costs around 700 bucks for a set of 30cm ones.

I would suggest you to get projectors (HID ones) fitted with an angel eye. That would solve most part of the problem. You can also install flexible DRLs inside and keep a seperate switch for those.

There will be local car markets in Chandigarh. Try to message 'Saroya' and 'JoniRajpura', they are from Punjab and will be able to help you.

Cost would be 2k per piece for Chinese ones and upto 12-14k per piece for Morimoto and similar brands.

Re: 4300K Quality HID Kit Techincal review and Install (W+Pics)

So my ballast is a dc ballast?
View attachment 172856

Recently brought a cheap HID kit from aliexpress(HIDs are very strange to me so brought it for learning something about it), two slim ballasts and two h11 35w 4300k bulbs just for Rs.1240/- [roll]

Light output is not either warm white or bluish its almost inbetween cool white and little closer to the blue, still its not blue. Changing the ballast helps in that?

Forgot to take enough pics, before putting them into the fogs.[frustration]
Is yours a headlight or a fog kit? And could you please share the link because even I want to buy it.
