Hi bhvm, thanks for the great info on HIDs.

I have a zest and was looking to upgrade the headlights.

I have H1 night breakers installed for the high beam and had H7 night breakers for the low beam. Both the low beam bulbs conked off after around 2 yrs.

I was wondering if an HID kit was a better option for the low beam or would a LED option be better. Read somewhere that LEDs are not good on projector headlamps.

Also what would you suggest for the high beam (once the existing H1 bulb fuse).

I could not find the exact specked HID on uglare.com and was hoping you could point me to the one that would work on the zest.

Sorry to bombard you with all these questions and thanks in advance.
Hello Mr Zest,
1.Premium halogens like night breakers are known for short life its great that you got 2 years life out of them.
2. An HID bulb provides 360-deg light which is better for the projector to focus properly. I would suggest any 35W 4300k HID kit. You can get such kits on Ebay. Costs are roughly 5k.
3. For the High beam you may go with LED bulbs. But I think just the projectors will be enough. Upgrade step by step and try.

Hi bhvm. I recently bought a Hyundai Verna Fluidic SX(O) AT. They come with projectors for both low and high beam (bi-xenon if I am not wrong).
1. Do you think HIDs will be feasible since low and high beam are from the same bulb? I somewhere read that flashing can decrease the life span of HID bulbs.
2. What will be the approximate cost for a decent setup?

Hello There,
A bixeonon Projector uses a dedicated mechanism wherein a shield is raised or lowered by magnetic solenoid and a relay as the need be. This causes high or low beam. The bulb does not play any role in this format hence is unharmed.

HID bulbs will quickly fail in which there are seperate chambers for high or low beam and the bulb itself is turned on and off (Eg Duster, XUV, Storme)

A high quality setup with AC ballasts costs roughly 6k.

Did you change the OEM projector lens in Zest for converting it to HID? is there enough space behind the HID bulb to cover with dust cap? How the ballast is fixed? is it inside the headlight? can u pls post few pictures from backside of headlight

Hi I have another question to ask. The present bulb is a H4 (bi-xenon), but many sellers (Ebay) are saying that the bulb which will fit into a Verna projector is 9005. I am totally confused as to which is the exact bulb which will fit? [confused]
I am planning to purchase online so want to be sure before ordering.

Your user manual will have the exact answer.
If yours is Bi-xeonon projector, Bulb cannot be H4. As H4 is reflector bulb. Projectors are usually HB3, H7, D2s Etc.

Hi,

In Verna SX(o) with projector setup, the bulb type is HB3/9005 and H4 in case the headlamp is without projectors. So just go ahead with purchasing 9005/HB3 HID conversion kits and it will fit without issues. We have already installed many in Verna/i20/creta, all the projectors are same.

Hope this helps.

It appears Verna comes with regular h4 headlamps in Base variants and projectors higher up. They haven't printed detailed information it seems. One way would be to pull out the bulb itself and read on it. Or you can go with TDautoz's Experience about the bulbs.

Guys I have a couple of doubts before going ahead with getting one installed.
Is there a lot of difference between 35w and 55w or is 35w sufficient?
Also is there a lot of difference between 4300k and 5000k?
Thank you all in advance.

for OEM lamps always go 35w. difference in 35w and 55w is not that much.
4300k recommended over 5000k. 5000k would be more of white while 4300k is warm white, like sunlight.

Hi, I am a newbie to this forum, but am an enthusiast. My question is born out of confusion - We are in the process of buying a Ciaz Alpha Petrol AT and I wanted to change the stock headlamps. Began by considering changing the bulb to Osram Nightbreaker Laser, then came upon threads which suggested H7 LED and I looked up the Philips H7 LED Ultinon available on amazon india or cougarmotor LED headlight on amazon usa. Car will be mainly driven in the city with occasional highway use (hardly ever at night). @bhvm, I was unable to see any uglare HID conversion kits on the ebay link you had posted. Suggestions for what to do and how to go about this would be welcome. I am from Mumbai.
