5 kmpl!! That's sad.
Are there any buggati veyron owners here? If so, how is your veyron's FE? [:D]
Who needs Veyrons when we have Skoda Superb and Pajero!? [lol] I met a Pajero owner in summers this year, which was giving something like 6 kmpl (the owner was driving it like some Honda VTEC)!

And Tornado, why did you drive 200 kms with the damaged oil sump?

No idea about Superb, but I have read online in many ownership reviews that this is one thirsty car. 6 kmpl in Pajero is pretty much normal, with a moderately light foot, it will give in the 8-10 kmpl range and when driven really hard (read maxxing out on the first 2 gears!), 6 kmpl and even lower us possible. We covered something like 60 km in 40 minutes that day!

EDIT - The Paj was the oldest (1st) generation we had in India. It was diesel.

60 kms in 40 mins! Something as precious as gold for us bangaloreans! LOL! According to carwale, here are the figures for superb:
Diesel AT: 14.88 kmpl!
Petrol AT: 10.77 kmpl!
Petrol MT: 12.87 kmpl!
Not sure if its ARAI cause i just typed skoda superb on road mileage, and a quick browse on carwale

I am sure these are the best figures, with most probably 80 kmph in top gear kind of driving. In reality, we can expect 8-10 kmpl from all engine + gearbox configurations in Superb. And no doubt it will hit 6 kmpl mark (or even lower) very easily if driven with a hard foot. But, who cares for that 1 or 2 extra km (pl) with a car as superb as the Superb! [lol] Even I get around 10-11 kmpl in city in my tiny Swift but the car makes me happy, which is more than enough.[:)] Believe me, after driving my Swift (earlier had super fuel-efficient Altos and WagonRs in family), the 27 kmpl mileage claims of some new cars are a joke for me!

Sorry if this discussion went off-topic. I will stop here.

It was the FE which led me to ASS, And it was the ASS made me realise that damaged sump is the culprit behind FE.

In & around Pune, if we manage to get 30 km in 40 min, we consider it as precious as gold.

Yes I'll stop here too. But 27 kmpl is acheivable provided you cruise at 80 in 5th gear on the autobahns! As i had.mentioned in post on page 1, my ciaz diesel gave me 24 on my way to hyderabad. But trust me that economy drive bored me to death!

So there you go! The R8 V10's FE is as good as a multi axle bus Maybe![lol]
Apparently the new scania metrolink hd.14.5 m tri axle bus (belonging to one of my acquaintances) gave a mere 0.3 kmpl on its second voyage from kerala to bangalore!

I missed out on my old car:
FE: 15 kmpl
Car: 2007 Maruti Swift vdi (1.3 ddis)
Distance: Measured over 150 kms in heavy traffic.
Usage: Heavy/moderate traffic, extensive highway use.
Best: 22 kmpl (over 200 kms @ speeds of 100 kmph).

Exactly. 9 kmpl in an 800cc engine means either you revved it real bad, you were lots of people in the car or maintenance work is due. What is the mileage you get on other non-traffic days?

Traffic condition was moderate. Normal Hyderabad traffic.
Maybe it's worth mentioning that the car with absolutely new that time.
Now (21k on the odo since 2008), gives a steady mileage of 15kmpl in avg Kolkata traffic (no major variation with or without AC)

That's a good thing, right?
