Re: paint sealant query

that dent is in the very tip of the bonet, just behind the front grille. Its in a place where the bonet is double skinned i.e. there is another metal frame on the engine side, so it was very difficult to access.
With regards to the scratches, Was wondering if brush paint touchup wouldnt look too conspicuous
Ok, for the hood dent, best would be to take a professional ASC advise. About scratches if your car is in solid colors like Dark Blue or Red then fine paint touching with a Zero-Number paint brush would be ok but only in deep ones not on finer ones. If your car is metallic shade like Dark Silver or Light one like Beige then paint matching for touch up will be bit tough. From a distance, touch-up in any paint will be noticeable.

I'll tell you, Buy a Zero number brush from any stationary shop and while at ASC, the Paint matching machine is located right outside paint booth. Computerized matching too leaves a slight difference because the panel that you may get painted would be freshly painted and rest of our car has factory finish paint so this difference cannot be avoided but yes this difference will surely be very minimal in a ASC painted/touch-up car.

Re: paint sealant query

Ok I just realised I wrote "unconsciously" instead of "inconspicuously" :-)

Anyway, will check at the ASC on Saturday

Re: paint sealant query

Those pics you guys were waiting on
For pic 1 and 2: Good buffing and detailing is needed.

For pic 3 Buffing + Touch up using zero number paint brush

For pic 4, I would say best would be ASC denting. Make them use soft end hammer and that ways, the original paint will not get damaged.

Please supervise the above activity in person.

Fir both pics 1 & 3, you can feel the scratch if you run your finger over. I had a go with the Ciodo polishing machine as well as my hand, some Sheeba polishing compound & 3m wax. What you see is after that

If these scratches are on a very bumper or fenders, light compounding can be done and reduce the depth of the scratches, else might need a wet sanding. Or any polish or glaze with fillers can also be used.

These are some fancy stuffs in the market, not sure whether it helps or not.
You can probably try some DIY polishes (If you are interested to do it :-) ) as follows:
Angelwax Perfect Polish Pre Wax Paint Cleanser AIO – Car Care Products | Car Detailing Products - GreenZ Car Care
GTechniq P1 Nano Polish 100ml – Car Care Products | Car Detailing Products - GreenZ Car Care
or just visit a nearby detailing center, and get the car corrected and then protect your car with a sealant or coating.

Normally if you have a protection, the impact of these scratches will be less, so easy yo handle.

I tried 3m polish & a polishing compound fently but there isint much effect on the scratch. I am told that com paint has a very close colour match. Still i will first use on the bumper which has a scratch as well but isint that conspicuous. Will follow up with light rubbing compound and see

I did check with my mechanic. He basically said that any touchup would be visible, so the entire panel would need to be painted

Mate, better you buy a small polish like Gtechniq P1 and Lakecountry Orange applicator pad and try it yourself, you will be able to reduce the depth of the scratches for sure :-)
