WhatsApp update for Android brings back text ‘Status’ feature, retains Snapchat-like stories feature

whatsapp-android-stock.jpg

Last month, WhatsApp rolled out a new ‘Status’ feature, which is similar to Snapchat and Instagram Stories. The feature lets you update your status in the form of images or short videos that disappear in 24 hours. However, the addition to this feature led to removal of the old ‘text status’, which led to a backlash from users. WhatsApp was quick enough to address concerns, and has re-enabled the feature in the latest version (2.17.107). The update is now live and can be downloaded from Google Play store.
